Lip Gloss - NARS Cosmetics - Velvet Lip Glide

I received a sample of this in this month's Sephora Play Box in the shade Bound. The color is lovely - your typical MLBB pinky mauve. There are "Bound" to be numerous dupes of this, ha ha... ha. The formula is interesting: it applies fluidly like a liquid lipstick (steady hands required) and it dries down to a velvety semi-matte finish. Everything is alright except that the …Read more

Lips - Too Faced - Lip Injection Glossy

Call me a masochist, but I find the slightly burning, tingling sensation from lip plumping glosses really addictive. Sometimes I put them on just because. But I can definitely understand the widespread disdain for these things, because they can be uncomfortable or even downright unbearable, depending on your pain tolerance. Not to mention that out of all the lip plumping products I've …Read more

Moisturizers - CLINIQUE - Pep-Start Hydroblur Moisturizer

2.0

Feb/22/2017

It seems like skincare products with makeup usage in mind (or is it the other way?) are kind of a trend nowadays: the new It Cosmetics compact foundation/serum hybrid, moisturizers with a barely-there tint, illuminating face mists, and a slew of face moisturizer/primer multitaskers, such as this product.

This is a moisturizer that promises all-day hydration while controlling oil and …

Fragrances - Yves Saint Laurent - Black Opium Eau de Parfum

Feb/19/2017

I swear I keep smelling this perfume everywhere and I'm starting to despise it. It doesn't help that YSL keeps advertising this as some sort of edgy, "cool-girls-only" scent when in reality it smells like all the other sweet, ultra-feminine licorice-heavy gourmands out there. The only thing that sets it apart is the coffee note but to me it's more of a teasing, fleeting …Read more

Cleansers - Bliss - Fabulous Foaming Face Wash

1.0

Feb/18/2017

I got a little sample bottle of this a while ago. Not a fan at all. After cleansing with this (which, by the way, it doesn't even foam up), when I wipe my face with toner, I see a TON of foundation residue on the cotton pad - and this is after I've already gone in with an oil-based makeup remover as my first step. This just isn't effective enough, especially for makeup-wearers. …Read more

Highlighters - BECCA - Shimmering Skin Perfector in Pearl

5.0

Feb/18/2017

Becca's highlighters never fail to deliver. I especially love the pressed formula. It gives a dramatic, yet believable glow (no obnoxious glitter chunks here) and is so incredibly finely milled that it never accentuates pores or gets cakey. Even on dry skin, it builds up smoothly and easily on the face. I think it's truly the gold standard of powder highlighters.

I own …

Toners - Mario Badescu - Glycolic Acid Toner

5.0

Feb/15/2017

I absolutely love this toner. I was leery of this product only having 2% glycolic acid, which is on the lower end, but it ended up being very effective. As long as you don't have a large amount of acne, I'm pretty sure this is good enough.

This toner is remarkable because not only does it prep and prime your skin for your skincare routine - as a toner should, but it also …

Cleansers - Garnier - SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water

3.0

Feb/15/2017

I have the blue version, which is for waterproof makeup. It does the job adequately, although it doesn't top my HG, which is Clinique's Take the Day Off Makeup Remover. For me, nothing seems to break down makeup as efficiently and effectively as oils. The Garnier one does have some oil in it, seeing as it's a biphase sort of formula, but it's still not …Read more

Moisturizers - ORIGINS - GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream

1.0
Created with Sketch.

Feb/14/2017

Yet another eye cream that absolutely, unequivocally does nothing for me, save for moisturizing the eye area (then why even bother with eye creams at that point?). It actually seems to shine a spotlight on my already terrible dark circles due to the illuminating shimmer in the formula. Also, boo to the jar packaging.

Fragrances - Viktor & Rolf - Bonbon Eau de Parfum

2.0
Created with Sketch.

Feb/14/2017

Smells just like the billions of cheap celebrity fruity floral perfumes out there, maybe a tiny bit more nuanced and sophisticated. It's not offensive or anything, but it definitely isn't my cup of tea. Even in my mid-20s, I feel like this is already too "candyish" and juvenile for me to wear. And if you do enjoy this type of scent, you definitely don't have to pay …Read more
