I was really excited to try this foundation because Becca is one of the OG companies for being inclusive with its shades. I have deep dark skin with golden to neutral undertones (NW50-55) and I found a perfect match in Mahogany.
-- I needed just one layer (using a brush) to cover the hyperpigmentation on my checks and forehead.
-- The foundation dries quickly but sets …Read more
The color Truffle is the closest thing I have ever tried to perfection for my skin tone. (I am NW50-ish).
I've been out of the office for a few days and a colleague hugged me when I came into the office today. (We have a friendly work place). I told her to be careful that I not get makeup on her blouse. Her response: You're wearing makeup? It's that skinlike. This is not …Read more
Edit: I tried this again this evening and it is just too drying. I had to come home between events to take it off because it was so uncomfortable. It's an absolutely perfect, skin-like shade match so I'm really disappointed.
I am two weeks in using this foundation. My skin: very acne prone, hyperpigmented, aging and dehydrated. It's a lovely combination …Read more
I see a lot of reviews from people who a) don't understand how cosmetics companies specifically and small businesses in general work and b) aren't discussing the product quality.
Every single company you all buy from uses a standard base formula/s and adds things for their own marketing purposes. All of them.
Pros: Valana has a huge, huge ranges of gorgeous foundation …Read more
I'm on my third tube of this. It is now my favorite everyday coverup. I have a very uneven skin tone with at least two large areas of hyperpigmentation. This provides me with a natural, luminous but not cakey finish. It is not pigmented enough to cover my darkest spots but just the tiniest powder of setting powder takes care of that. The texture is fantastic. Almost like a gel but creamy and …Read more
I just don't seem to have the luck with MUAC products that others have. I purchased this peel based on the recommendation of MUAC customer service (which was excellent.)
I forwarded them a picture of my acne-prone, hyperpigmented skin and asked for a full regimen, including a peel recommendation. So far, none of the products have been winners but this is especially …Read more
I have been nothing but disappointed with almost every product in the Cover Girl Queen Collection line ... from the too-sheer lipsticks to the heavy, masky foundation.
I saw a young woman on YouTube who shares my complexion. She did a review on this product and it looked pretty nice so I got sucked in.
Pros: I am NW50 and the Sheer Espresso in this was a good match. It went …Read more
The Shea Moisture cosmetics line is a fantastic addition to the drugstore cosmetic line up for women of color! It's so awesome not to have to make a trek to the department store whenever you want a quick bronzer or concealer or lippie for dark skin.
That said, the company has some work to do on this foundation.
Pros: The color match is so spot on! Not too red and no …Read more
I really hoped I wouldn't like this serum but my extremely finicky, acne-prone and aging skin seems to love it. I prefer to use it as a moisturizer. This summer (with temps topping 100 degrees in Arizona), I just didn't need a moisturizer. I used this on top of my Acne.org BP or over Tazorac (on alternating nights with one or two nights off). I found that it absorbed quickly, played …Read more
