This is sunscreen par excellence. Anessa, which is a subsidiary of Japan's famous Shiseido group, is the most popular sunscreen brand in Japan. It has dominated the sunscreen market for almost two decades, and after trying this sunscreen, I can now understand its appeal.

Anessa has a comprehensive line-up of sunscreens in various vehicles and formats, so for clarity's sake …

Treatments (Face) - Paula's Choice - Skin Perfecting 8% AHA (Glycolic Acid) Gel Exfoliator

The Paula's Choice 8% AHA Gel Exfoliant is the second Glycolic Acid product I have tried, the first being The Ordinary's 7% Glycolic Acid 'toner' (which is a misnomer – it is an exfoliant). I personally prefer the PC over the TO, though both are stellar products in their own right.

The Ordinary's Glycolic Acid product has its perks. It is more affordable than the …

This is an all-mineral tinted sunscreen fluid from Bioderma with Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide as its UV protectants, and Iron Oxides for tint (and by extension, protection from Blue Light). Bioderma, as with all European cosmetics brands …

Cleansers - HADA LABO - Gokujyun Makeup Removing Cleansing Oil

I've used about 10 bottles of this over the course of the last few years to remove sunscreen and makeup, before going in with a foaming cleanser. It's a no-frills, affordable, and gentle oil cleanser, and it gets the job done. It emulsifies wonderfully with a bit of water and then melts off like milk. It's actually fun to use! I use about two pumps for my face and …Read more

La Roche-Posay (LRP) has reformulated and renamed their cult Anthelios Ultra-Light Fluid (ULF) with an SPF rating of 50+ and a PPD of 42. It is now known as the Anthelios Shaka Fluid with the same SPF rating and an increased PPD of 46. The ULF has been discontinued as of 2019.

This is a major reformulation with several formulatory changes. There were 34 ingredients in the …

Survival 0 is the most innovative antioxidant serum I've ever had the pleasure of using, and for just 25 CAD, I feel like I'm getting so much bang for my buck. I'd have taken a lippie off if they were still using the old-style dropper bottle, but they've since switched to a pump bottle to preserve the integrity of the ingredients - and I couldn't be …Read more

After some of the negative reviews I've seen for this product - not on MakeupAlley, but elsewhere - I've become convinced that the world is full of ingrates who have no idea how lucky they are that they can even get their hands on a serum as potent as this.

If not for The Ordinary, most of you wouldn't stand a chance of getting your hands on a potion with similar …

Tinted Moisturizer - Glossier - Perfecting Skin Tint

I’m giving this a relatively high score not because this product is the best in its class, but because it’s the only product of its kind. More often than not, products that are marketed as ‘skin tints’ are really just low-coverage foundations or tinted moisturisers that have been given a fancier name by their manufacturers to distinguish them from the rest of the pack.

This is a true …

This product is the G.O.A.T.

If you want something that will make your pores and fine lines and wrinkles look nonexistent upon initial contact, this is it.

I first bought this in 2016, but I never bothered using it because I bought the Hylamide Matte 12 at the same time (another great product) and the claims on the packaging of Matte 12 just jumped out at me. I needed …

Of all the high-protectant body sunscreens in La Roche-Posay's line-up, this is by far my favourite. Despite what the name might make you think, this is not JUST for children. It is a fantastic sunscreen for active adults who need something more tenacious than an everyday Japanese sunscreen for prolonged exposure to the sun. This is the most cosmetically elegant body sunscreen in LRP's …Read more
