Misc Beauty Tools - The Body Shop - Muslin Cleansing Cloths

2.0

I had bought some TBS muslin cloths a few years ago. They were double layered, soft, and sturdy with a fairly close weave. So when I wanted to try the oil cleaning method a few weeks ago, I decided I wanted a few more of the same. They seemed a bit expensive, but I knew they were good quality, and I was able to order some on sale. I was so disappointed when they arrived! Obviously, TBS has …Read more

Gels/ Soaps - Unlisted Brand - Wedderspoon Manuka Honey & Tea Tree Soap

I am so happy with Wedderspoon Manuka Honey & Tea Tree Soap! My skin is chemically sensitive, prone to mild but persistent eczema, and breaks out if you look at it wrong. Washing with this soap has helped to diminish a large rash on my back that I've had for almost a year, as well as clearing up the breakouts embedded in the rash. (I know! So gross!) While it is effective, it and River …Read more

UPDATE -- After using EVCO for years, I have come to understand more about when it works and when it doesn't. I've found that when I use most natural shampoo/conditioner pairs, the oil sinks into my hair, making it healthier and reducing frizz. When used in conjunction with other products, however, especially conditioners that seal the hair, the EVCO doesn't work at all, leaving my …Read more

I am torn about this product. I will not be using it as my daily cleanser. In fact, I feel a bit betrayed by the company. And yet, it does have some properties that some of you may appreciate.

I purchased this because I have very sensitive skin which is highly reactive to fragrances, essential oils, and such. The ingredients on my bottle did not list fragrance, essential oils, flower …

Sunscreen - Jane Iredale - Powder-Me SPF Dry Sunscreen

I wish I could give this product four and a half lippies. I am generally happy with it and am relieved to have found a sunscreen I can use, but it does have a few issues.

First the good: It doesn't make me angry. This statement may seem odd to a lot of you, but I think some of you out there may understand. Most sunscreens I have tried are thick and occlusive. They keep my skin …

Skincare - Face - No Brand (DIY or homemade) - Grapeseed Oil

Although this is listed under moisturizers for face, I am reviewing it as a body moisturizer.

I tried a food grade, organic grapeseed oil from the cooking oil aisle of Whole Foods several years ago and did not have a good experience with it. I have sensitive skin that is very reactive, and evidence suggests that the way an oil is extracted can make a big difference to my skin. Fast …

Cleansers - Trader Joe's - Nourish All-In-One Facial Cleanser

I'm glad that this cleanser has worked so well for others, but I did not have a good experience with it. I agree with the reviewers who found it drying. At first I thought that this was the source of all the problems I had with it, but even when I moisturized with grapeseed oil afterwards, which completely took care of the dryness issue, this cleanser still didn't work for me at all. It …Read more

I like this soap. I can use the unscented version as a body bar without it irritating my very sensitive skin or causing it to break out. I can't use it on my face, but I've never found a bar that I could, so I wouldn't hold that against it too much. The only drawback it has is that it's not really strong enough to properly clean underarms. I just use another soap for that when …Read more

Moisturizers - Unlisted Brand - Pure Nuff Stuff - Cream Dream - Unscented

**UPDATE** I'm downgrading this from five lippies to three because, while it never irritated my skin, I did get clogged bumps around my eyes when I used it regularly.

My skin is the queen of contact sensitivity. I have not been able to find a body moisturizer that I can use reliably, so needless to say, eye cream has been out of reach for me. Lately, because the EU seems to be …

Shampoo - Unlisted Brand - Green People - Organic Base No Scent Shampoo

Meh. Not the worst unscented shampoo I've tried. It didn't give me a rash, cause breakage, or make my dense, fine-structured, curly, tending toward poof-y hair fall out. It did make my hair look a mess -- super puffy, no curl, and fried -- while leaving it cruddy feeling. After only two times using the shampoo and matching conditioner, my hand would feel mucky when I ran it through my …Read more
