Brows - Glossier - Boy Brow

I really didn't want to like Glossier with all the hype but I love groomed brows and tried this after at least 5 friends told me I had to try it. And, of course, they were right. It's basically perfect for me. It darkens my brows but never my skin, even when I make a mistake, unlike most pencils or pens or coloured brow gels. It's never crispy or harsh looking, like brow gels. And …Read more

Shampoo - The Body Shop - Ginger Scalp Care Shampoo

This shampoo was recommended to me on a message board somewhere for fine, low porosity, curly hair and I've used it pretty consistently for the last 5+ years. There's a Body Shop on my walk home from the tube so I just stock up when they do a promotion and it winds up being relatively inexpensive. Plus I only use a little dot at a time, so a bottle lasts me a long time. I can use it in …Read more

Shampoo - Klorane - Shampoo with Papyrus Milk

I love this shampoo and the matching conditioner and have been using them on and off since the late-90s. My hair is fine and curly with low porosity and this is just perfect with the exception of the price, which I find steep compared to some other things that work well and which I can find more easily where I live. If it was right on the shelf of most drugstores in London now like it was when I …Read more

Conditioner - Klorane - Smoothing Conditioner with Papyrus Milk

I love this. My hair is fine and curly (2c) with very low porosity. This conditioner is very concentrated so I don't need a lot (this makes it great for travelling) and it nourishes my wispy strands deeply without weighing them down, leaving them very shiny and smooth. The smell is really comforting to me, too. This is not super easy to buy where I live, so I tend to pick some up whenever …Read more

Cleansers - BIODERMA - Sensibio Cleansing Milk

This was just meh for me but it might be nice for someone with drier skin. It removes my makeup well, doesn't irritate my reactive rosacea skin or sensitive eyes, has no horrible fragrance, and can be wiped or rinsed away, all of which I like, but it takes a fair bit of massaging and it leaves a residue, so I wind up following it with the Sensibio Micellar water to clean up after it. To me …Read more

Cleansers - BIODERMA - Sensibio Mild Cleansing Foaming Gel

Love this. I have rosacea and sensitive skin that reacts easily to things but likes to feel clean. My skin gets a little drier in the winter and a little oilier in the summer, so I usually have to switch products with the seasons. But, lo and behold, is the low-maintenance cleanser of my dreams. Whatever season it is, this is always great when I want a fast water wash with no fuss. It works …Read more

BB Cream - Kiehl's - Actively Correcting & Beautifying BB Cream

This eventually went in the bin after it sat on my shelf for ages while I felt guilty about wasting money on the purchase. It felt heavy and gross on my skin and the palest shade was orange on me (I'm quite pale but it seemed ok in the store). I managed to lose the receipt so couldn't return it even though I knew after one day that it wasn't for me. It felt like a cheap drugstore …Read more

Moisturizers - BIODERMA - Sensibio Forte

I like this for preventing winter dryness without irritating my sensitive rosacea skin. I don't find it super rich but it's usually all I need in winter and it's not greasy, so it's great under makeup. It's totally no fuss and easy but not life changing, no special radiance etc. from using it. It's just a nice, reliable cream that plays well with others and does what …Read more

Treatments (Eye) - Kiehl's - Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado

Normally I am not a huge Kiehl's fan. My general feeling is that they are far too expensive for meh products that are kind of old-fashioned and I've absolutely loathed a couple of products (like their BB cream) so I've become wary of ever buying from them without extensive sampling and don't really bother to go in their shops. But I was given this cream as a gift and I'm …Read more

Mascara - L'Oreal Paris - Telescopic Mascara - Carbon Black

I just don’t understand the positive reviews. It’s like people are describing a different product altogether. For me, this is very wet and goes on the lashes in giant globs that stick all your lashes into clumps. Then it dries into hard spikes. I may as well have lit my money on fire. I would love to try the wonderful mascara other people are apparently trying in the same package.
