Pressed Powders - e.l.f. Cosmetics - Tone Correcting Powder

I wanted to try this product to combat redness and brighten my face. It does job well, but not much else. It's very useful for brushing over a bare face on low makeup days just to correct tone, and I like to use the yellow square for under my eyes and the green square over any concealed spots or redness. It does not work at all for setting foundation. I find that if I set my makeup with this …Read more

Primer/ Corrector - Smashbox - Photo Finish Color Correcting Foundation Primer- Smashing Color Adjust

I've given this primer a very good try but I detashed it after a couple of months and here's why: it does not mask redness. I do believe that color correcting products can be helpful. However, this primer becomes totally transparent when spread on the skin, and the green color doesn't mysteriously come back after you've patted it on. So I really don't understand why …Read more

Lips - wet n wild - Lady and the Vamp

This particular shade is a fantastic deep burgundy, and looks quite red on my lips. I think it's exactly the right shade of dark strawberry color for my skintone that could be worn anywhere with a variety of looks. I'm quite fair, so it can be hard to wear darker lip colors without looking overdone, so I love this. It makes a statement, but it never looks "too much" with a …Read more

Lipstick - MILANI - Color Statement - Nude Creme

Milani lipsticks are the perfect combo of long lasting and comfortable - I'd rate them right up there with Mac's bullet lipsticks - so I knew I would like this one. What I didn't expect was for this shade to become such a staple in my collection. I wear this probably three days out of every week, and since I try to change up my makeup a little every day, that really says a lot …Read more

Hair Color - No Brand (DIY or homemade) - Vitamin C Hair Color Remover

I have used vitamin c tablets to remove dark box dye color from my hair several times. I can't speak about the science of this or whether it would work for all hair types, but it works great for my fine, naturally ash blonde hair. I crush up about thirty chewable tablets, ideally with a mortar and pestle but you can also place them in a ziploc bag and use a rolling pin, into a very fine …Read more

Contour - wet n wild - Coloricon Contouring Palette

I gave this a try in the shade Dulce de Leche. My hg contouring powder is from the etsy store Pumpkin and Poppy in the shade Oak Bark, but it is a loose powder and I am always interested in finding a pressed contour for travel. I wasn't expecting this powder to be a dupe as it is clearly visibly warmer toned, but thought from youtube reviews that it would be passable on my very fair, neutral …Read more

Primer/ Corrector - Maybelline New York - Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser

Oct/12/2016

This product didn't make any difference in how my pores look (and yes they are enlarged, but I do have some luck with other pore filling primers, at least upon initial application) and it didn't change how my makeup lasted. That alone is why I am giving it one lippie, since it's basically a waste of money, but it may be worth noting that I am another reviewer who broke out from …Read more

Liquid - Hard Candy - Glamoflauge Invisible Camouflage Foundation

Aug/21/2016

This foundation has a very fair shade range, a pump, and is extremely inexpensive, so of course I wanted to give it a try. However, I really found this difficult to blend because it sets so quickly and is very thick. I got the best application with a dampened beauty blender. I'd highly suggest working in small sections and taking your time, because its very high coverage and you need less …Read more

Lotions/ Creams - CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream

I LOVE this moisturizer. Totally unscented, and super creamy texture. I use it every morning and at night after exfoliating. Sometimes I need to use a second layer since my skin can get dry, but it really sinks in beautifully and makes my skin super smooth. Plays nice underneath all of my makeup as well. The big tub packaging is a bummer though - I keep a tub around for my body but buy the small …Read more

In looking for a dupe for benetint (for lips) that doesn't cost $40 CAD, I gave this a try for around $10. The color (Deep Berry) is great and the effect is exactly what I like in a stain, very subtle and brightens your complexion without looking or feeling like you're wearing any lip product. I took two lippies off though because the product just isn't as liquid as benetint... Its …Read more
