Eye Shadow - Lancôme - The New Blue

I love this color! I received it in a gwp palette and ignored it for a couple weeks, then decided to swatch it on my hand in the sun. I love the shimmering effect, and how it hovers between grey and blue. It's the most versatile blue in my stash, and as other reviewers have said, it's very neutral wearing. My only complaint is that The New Blue does not have the lasting effect of other …Read more

Lipstick - CHANEL - Rouge Allure - Emotion

3.0

May/14/2009

I soooo want to love Emotion because in the tube, it's a perfect shimmery shade of pink with hints of gold. I LOVE the formula, love the packaging (such a cool sleek device for the Rouge Allures - push in the bottom and out it pops!), love the little embossed "CHANEL" on the side of the lippie... Chanel is the best at packaging their products, imo - elegant, lovely, sexy pieces …Read more

Fragrances - Unlisted Brand - Anthousa Citrus Sorbet Edp

3.0

May/11/2009

Very herbal and almost bitter smelling in the opening, dries down about half hour later to a creamy bergamot-edged orange blossom base. Originally retailed for $75, now cropping up at TJ Maxx between $7.99-$12.99. Would work wonderfully as a room spray or body creme, not so great as a frag.

Eye Primer - MAC Cosmetics - Prep + Prime Eye

5.0
Created with Sketch.

May/09/2009

I am reviewing this as a CONCEALOR, because as an Eye Primer, it falls a little short.

I have a couple of acne scars that I have had the hardest time covering. I use - on any given day - Clarins, Clinique, Smashbox primers, and then try to buff it out with Studio Fix Fluid and set with powder. That lasts me about 2 hours, and then I'm back to layering more products. …

Lipstick - Bobbi Brown - Lip Color - Sandwash Pink

I'm sad... I really wanted to like this based on the reviews here and the promising color in the tube but on my NC25 skin, it's like a muted Pepto Bismol pink. Eck. I was not impressed... off to find another color!

Blush - MAC Cosmetics - Fleurry

5.0
Created with Sketch.

May/06/2009

Fleurry is so versatile - it's a great color for my NC25 complexion, and delivers just enough color for a natural, delicately flushed look. I have a tendency to overdeposit color, but Fleurry is one of the few blushes that gives me that polished, fresh look without appearing over-done.

I like it so much I'm tossing the rest of my blushes in my back-up box for now. Too bad …

Cleansers - Estée Lauder - Soft Clean Moisture Rich Foaming Cleanser

5.0
Created with Sketch.

May/05/2009

Off the top of my head, I can think of at least 6 other facial cleansers in my bathroom (is that sick or what?), but this is the one I reach for daily. The reasons I like it so much?

-It smells pretty. Some may hate fragrance in a cleanser, but it smells of pretty things.

-It takes less than a dime sized amount to cleanse my face. That means a tube of this …

Eye Shadow - Yves Saint Laurent - Ombre Solo 02 Granite Grey

5.0
Created with Sketch.

May/05/2009

I'm pretty minimal when it comes to eye shadows; I don't usually have the time to buff colors in, and I prefer a more natural look when I do use color. Also, my eyes are blue/grey with a tinge of green, so color matching can be a little tricky - I tend to do best with lighter hued neutrals and heading into warm or cool can either give me the look of death, or give me that awful …Read more

Makeup Brushes - EcoTools - 6 Piece Brush Set

4.0

May/04/2009

I love the Eco Tools brushes: love how the company is environmentally responsible (to a point - they do still use plastic in packaging), love the low price point, love the low-no shed factor, love the quality of the brushes.

My gripe? The handle broke off the powder brush the second day. I have to get around to hot gluing it one of these days. And the mascara comb broke the first …

Fragrances - Byblos - Essence

1.0

May/03/2009

Essence smells like a cross between Omnia Green Jade, those distinctly smelling Barbie Doll heads Rosbergs3 mentioned in his review, and a little dash of salty nuts thrown into the mix.

Essence is not anything I would ever willingly wear. It smells cheap, discordant, and can I say cheap again? I hate knowing it has taken up shelf space amongst real perfumes. Yuck. So …
