Eye Makeup Remover - Almay - Longwear & Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover Pads

2.0

I hate to dog on an affordable product that - in theory - does its job, but this is one eye makeup remover I just won’t use anymore. The pads are thin, scratchy, and irritate the skin around my eyes, even with very little wiping. Like the previous reviewer, I place a pad over my eyelid and lashes, wait at least 20 seconds, then gently wipe to remove my makeup. Despite me being as gentle as …Read more

Scrubs - LUSH - Ocean Salt Face & Body Scrub

1.0

Sep/21/2018

Tl;dr: I’ve never been more disappointed in a product in my life. I decided to “treat myself” to the full-size jar of Ocean Salt last Christmas. My eyes watered a bit at the *absurd* price ($43 after tax - get over yourself, Lush), but I thought “yoloooo!” and decided to go for it anyway. I ended up HATING everything about it. For one thing, the smell was disgusting - it literally smelled like a …Read more

Lotions/ Creams - L'Occitane - 20% Shea Butter Hand Cream

3.0

I’ll get right to the point: This does nothing for my hands. I really like the packaging, and some of the scents are quite nice, but this is about as effective for me as the sample-size body lotion you get for free in a hotel bathroom. If my hands are in great shape (not chapped or dried out), then this cream is a nice, lightweight product to have in my purse. I basically carry it around because …Read more

Gels/ Soaps - Philosophy - Fresh Cream 3-in-1

3.0

May/30/2018

First of all, I’m convinced that Philosophy changed up the formulation of this particular scent. It used to smell a lot better, but now Fresh Cream has a cheap/thin/plastic-y smell that I don’t love. Anyway, I do enjoy the 3-in-1 as a body wash or bubble bath (I don’t use it in my hair). It doesn’t strip my skin or make it feel dry after I shower, and I can usually skip my body cream afterward …Read more

Lip Gloss - Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Hydrating Lip Shine

5.0

May/30/2018

No lie, this is one of the best lip products I’ve ever used. I think of it as an extension of my skincare/lip treatment arsenal, NOT as a lip color. I bought the shade Soft Blush (10). It gives me that MLBB look, and it always looks “just right” even if I’m not wearing any other makeup...it’s dewy, not necessarily “shiny”. I use it as a lip treatment when I’m at work, because extra long shifts + …Read more

Lip Treatments - C.O. Bigelow - Rose Salve

3.0

May/30/2018

I don’t plan to repurchase this, even though it isn’t a bad product per se. Once applied to my lips, the texture of the balm becomes too thin to be occlusive, but the ingredients just aren’t moisturizing enough for a non-occlusive lip balm to be very effective. It just doesn’t do anything for the health of my lips - they don’t become any smoother, softer, or less dry when I use this balm, even as …Read more

Bath Treatments - No Brand (DIY or homemade) - Epsom Salt Bath

5.0

Apr/05/2018

Despite what you may have read, no - epsom salts will not increase the amount of magnesium in your body. Medical and scientific research has proven that magnesium is not absorbed from outside the body through skin cells. Sweat glands and hair follicles DO transport magnesium through the skin, but they only account for 0.1% - 1% of the skin’s surface, and do not transport a sufficient amount of …Read more

I’ve been using this in the lavender scent, and it’s sooo relaxing. When my stress and anxiety are way too high, this really helps. I also find that it’s effective for “sleep hygiene” when I need to get a good night’s sleep, and it feels incredible when I’m sick. IMO, the lavender scent is very natural, but also a bit heavy-handed...it works better than other lavender products I’ve used, but the …Read more

Hair Removal - Unlisted Brand - Cirepil - Blue Wax

Mar/19/2018

I have a bit of an obsession with DIY beauty AND hair removal, so about 6 months ago, I finally purchased a nice home waxing setup to save some money. I really wanted the same wax that European Wax Center uses, but as it turns out, they don’t actually sell it anywhere. However, I saw a few videos and reviews that compared Cirepil wax to what EWC uses, and decided to give it a try. I bought the …Read more

Treatments (Face) - Timeless Skin Care - 20% Vitamin C Serum + Vitamin E + Ferulic Acid

4.0
Created with Sketch.

Mar/15/2018

If you're wondering "How does this compare to SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic?", I'll go into more detail about that at the end of my review. I've been using the Timeless vitamin C formula for a couple of years now, and have gone through multiple bottles. When I stop using it, my skin looks and feels like something is missing from my routine. I've never had dark spots or …Read more
