Primer/ Corrector - BECCA - First Light Priming Filter

I don't use this often (to be honest, I don't use primers often at all), and when I do, I usually use it when going out in the evening. I have a lot of sun damage/melasma, and this really helps disguise it, which surprised me--I didn't expect it to be so effective. It not only smooths my skin, but the hint of tint (which is what it is after applying) makes my NW 15-20, neutral skin …Read more

Treatments (Face) - Unlisted Brand - NuFountain C20+Ferulic Vitamin C Serum (formerly called "Gel," not serum)

I cannot believe that I haven't reviewed this! I consider a Vitamin C serum critical to my daily skincare routine. I've used several brands, from SkinCeuticals to CSS, and this one is IT. The formula is almost as watery as the C20 serum, and it feels good on the skin (although it now has a hyaluronic acid base, so it's my winter serum). And I like that the ingredients list is short …Read more

Blush - NUDESTIX - Nudies Bloom

Since I love Nudestix's Nudies Matte Blush sticks, I thought I'd try the Bloom as well. I have Cherry Blossom Babe, a lovely cool pink (quite like a cherry blossom). It's *very* creamy and so is easy to apply, and the finish is very glowy. However, what you gain in glow you lose in longevity (as is usually the case). I find that I have to put quite a lot on to get more than a …Read more

Lotions/ Creams - Unlisted Brand - Dermal Therapy Hand, Elbow & Knee Cream

I have real problem hands--dry all, year, fingertips splitting in winter, all that fun stuff. Neutrogena Norwegian Formula is my HG, but I wanted to add another cream, preferably with urea, for winter. (AmLactin is great and easily available, but I can't stand the smell.) So I checked the MUA Reviews database and found out about Dermal Therapy. After checking them out online, I decided to …Read more

Blush - Elizabeth Arden - Ceramide Cream Blush

This is (or used to be--it's no longer listed on EA's site) one of the best basic cream blushes ever. It comes in a simple, small, gold case (which I wish had a translucent top so I could easily see the color I'm choosing) that has a flip-top with a tiny mirror. The name of the shade--Pink, Honey, Nectar, Plum--is precisely what you're getting. The formula is creamy and quite …Read more

This is an amazingly great brow grooming kit in a single component! I've been on a Nudestix kick lately, and this was on sale for Boxing Day, so I decided to give it a try. I'm delighted that I did.

Of course, it comes in the Nudestix tin, which is annoying if you have several; however they are very sturdy, have a huge mirror in the lid, and are great for carrying makeup in …

Bottockfottock recommended this on the board one day, describing it as a "cool-toned plum toned mauvey pink brown." I looked it up and had to have it, and I'm delighted that I splurged! The base is a cool-ish plum, but it's a very complex shade that does indeed include hints of mauve, pink, and brown, as well as a very light tough of gold shimmer, but none of these overwhelm …Read more

I was tempted into buying these because 1. they seemed really innovative, 2. I don't highly pigmented blush, and 3. true mauve blushes are difficult to find. I first got She's Seductive (a mauve-y plum), and later purchased She's Passionate (a lovely, neutral-leaning-cool pink). I love them, which surprises me, because I no longer wear powder blush much (creams and liquids are much …Read more

Eye Primer - Unlisted Brand - P. Louise Base

Someone mentioned this on the makeup board as being great for eyelid coverage (my eyelids are quite red/discolored), so I thought I'd give it a try. Wow! P Louise (P.Louise Makeup Academy) is a UK company that offers the widest range of eye shadow bases I've ever seen, and they come in a rainbow of colors (fleshtones as well as brights, metallics, etc.). I purchased this on eBay (from a …Read more
