I'm a fan of the TruKid sunscreen (the only natural, purely-physical sunscreen I've found that is actually easy to apply and non-greasy). So, when I realized that we needed something to help detangle my daughter's hair after baths, I bought the TruKid conditioner. It works great as a detangler -- it makes her hair easy to comb and very soft. (She has soft, wavy, fine-but-thick …Read more

Since having my daughter, my formerly soft, straight, low-maintenance hair has gotten coarse and even a little bit frizzy. I'm now learning to blow dry to get the smoothness back, but the ends still have a tendency to look at little coarse.

My hairstylist recommended this for the ends of my hair, to smooth/moisturzie the ends and keep the layers cleaner and more defined. …

UPDATE Oct. 2012: I've been meaning to update this review for a while. The last few tubes I've gotten from Trukids (over the past 18 months or so) seem to have a different formulation -- a much thicker cream that is harder to spread and rub in. I'm not sure if they've changed the formula or if I've just had bad luck. So we ended up switching to Episcencials …Read more

EDIT: I've since found a natural, physical sunscreen (TruKid) that's non-greasy and much easier to use. It also doesn't contain nanoparticles, the safety of which is in some dispute. So I would recommend that over Badger. However, for those who don't mind the thick texture of Badger, it's still a good (and non-toxic) option. Original Review: This isn't the …Read more

I love this moisturizer. It has a really nice, lightweight texture but is creamy and moisturizing enough for the parts of my face (especially under my eyes) that sometimes feel a little taut or dry. I use it in the morning before I put sunscreen on, and at night before bed. I spent a long time looking for an all-natural moisturizer that had really cutting-edge anti-aging ingredients, and I …Read more

I really like this moisturizer/sunscreen. The ingredients are about as natural as you can find in a sunscreen, and the texture is light and fairly elegant. I like that it has peptides, DMAE, etc. -- though I don't know how much of each ingredient is in there, I like being able to think that my sunscreen has benefits beyond just sun protection. The one complaint I have is that the airless …Read more

This moisturizer/sunscreen isn't perfect, but because I really like the natural ingredients, I think it's worth it. What I like: it leaves a nice finish once it's blended in and allowed to absorb; the ingredients are mostly natural; it provides considerable sun protection. What I don't like: when I first apply it, it's a little more moisturizing than I'd like …Read more

This works reasonably well on the occasional, under-the-skin cystic acne -- it definitely speeds up healing, and since you're not drying out the skin, you don't get a weird, dehydrated, hard-to-conceal spot as it heals. It's not a miracle-worker by any means, and I can't really imagine that it would have any effect on regular, non-cystic acne.

I can be such a makeup snob that I still can't get over how great these Avon lipsticks/glosses are -- I hardly ever use my beloved Vincent Longo, Kevyn Aucoin, or Chantecaille lipsticks anymore (though I still carry them around in a pathetic effort to feel pampered). I used to use the Buttered Rum shade of this in the old formula, and I loved it -- completely moisturizing, long-lasting …Read more

This is a deep, warm, brownish red that sometimes looks slightly plummy on me. You have to apply it fairly carefully because it's so pigmented (i.e., more lipstick than lip gloss). It wears extremely well -- much longer than most other lipsticks I have -- and leaves your lips feeling very soft and moisturized all day. When it finally wears off, it leaves a pretty tint. The scent (which I …Read more
