Polishes - OPI - Nail Lacquer - Bogota Blackberry

Love this gorgeous deep red. I'm a very PPP, and it looks Hollywood glamorous on toes, and day-to-night stylish on fingernails. OPI quality is excellent, though you do need 3 coats to get that solid 'car paint' sheen, and it takes a while to dry properly. Along with I'm Not Really a Waitress, this is my HG red varnish.

Treatments (Face) - Liz Earle - liz earle spot on

I don't even look at other spot treatments now - Liz Earle Spot-On knocks pimples out in about 2 days, smells natural (lavender, melissa oil, etc), doesn't send the surrounding skin into peel-meltdown, and is pretty hygienic, with the rollerball dispenser. Highly recommended, along with everything else in the Liz Earle line.

Moisturizers - Boots - No 7 Time Resisting Day Cream

I've been using this for about three months now, and it's made my skin feel like velvet - it absorbs quickly, despite being quite thick, and leaves a subtle glow to my complexion, which has been pretty much blemish-free. I've also been using Protect and Perfect serum, so it might be a combo of the two, but whatever it is, it's working for me!

For £15, this is really …

Lipstick - CHANTECAILLE - Lipstick

Chantecaille's lipsticks really are fantastic - I have Cranberry, a deep, plushy red which gives that glamorous, 40s look better than any other lipstick I've ever tried (but that's been discontinued, I think), and Poppy, a brighter, clearer crimson, which is more modern. Both are very pigmented and last well, perfect for wearing alone with no other make-up for understated chic. My …Read more

Treatments (Face) - Liz Earle - Superskin Concentrate

Another rave for this gorgeously scented facial oil - i use it over my night cream whenever my skin's feeling dull or parched or just sensitive, and in the morning I can see the difference: soft, plumped-up skin. The rollerball is really clever: it's hygienic and portable and it's difficult to overdo the application, because you just roll on what you need, without spilling. It is …Read more

Sunscreen - Boots - Soltan

May/05/2007

My HG sunscreen lotion - excellent UVA/UVB protection, gorgeous summery smell, sinks in quickly so you can get dressed almost immediately, nearly always BOGOF so cheap enough to slather on generously, which is surely the point of suncream. I've never found it greasy, and my skin always feels much better during the summer, as a result of its good moisturising qualities. I'm very PPP with …Read more

Nail Tools - Unlisted Brand - Microplane - Orb

SO, SO, SO brilliant! I'll forever be indebted to MUA for discovering this magical foot transformer. This parmesan-grater-for-feet removes hard skin in a few easy swipes, while neatly containing the resulting manky flakes - and it's grimly fascinating just how much there is. The emery board side finishes off ay rough edges, so moisturiser sinks straight in afterwards. A real must-have …Read more

Eyeliner - Boots - No7 Amazing Eyes Pencil

1.0
Created with Sketch.

Apr/27/2007

I got an Olive eye pencil with a £5 off Boots voucher, and even at £3 or so, it wasn't worth the money. The colour barely shows up and then fades almost at once, the blender at the end is absolutely useless, it's ludicrously overpriced. When the rest of the No7 range is excellent quality, the misses are doubly disappointing. Avoid.

Eyeliner - Boots - No7 Liquid Eyeliner

Mar/31/2007

With upmarket new packaging and a fancy new ad campaign, Boots No 7 is now pitched at the higher end of the high street brands: £8 for a liquid eyeliner isn't that cheap, and I expected it to last longer than the couple of hours it did, before flaking away completely. The brush is fine, and not too long, so it isn't hard to apply, but in the end, there are other, better, eyeliners out …Read more

Palettes - Bobbi Brown - Violet Face Palette [DISCONTINUED]

I bought this after a lovely counter makeover at Bloomingdales - the great thing about Bobbi Brown stuff is that you still get more or less the same effect when you slap it on yourself at home. I wasn't sure I could carry off the cool purples (I'm a PPP redhead), especially not the scary fuschia blush, but as usual, the overall look is less about the actual colours and more about a …Read more
