Top/Base Coats - Orly - Bonder Rubberized Basecoat

I am feeling very underwhelmed by this product. It applies very nicely, dries quickly and my polishes go on nice and smooth on top but not only does it not seem to extend the wear of my manicure, it actually seems to shorten it. I only used this for 1 mani/pedi for which I used two polishes I have used before with other basecoats. Previously, my mani lasted about 5 days and my pedi around 10 …Read more

Tinted Moisturizer - Jane Iredale - Dream Tint Tinted Moisturizer

2.0

Sep/13/2013

I had been lemming this TM for a LONG time when I finally emailed JI to request a sample in Light. The sample is a mini version of the full sized squeeze tube and was enough for me to use 4 times (all over my face, no patch tests). I have very fair, cool-toned skin with pink undertones and don't know anything about MAC references but usually wear Alima Neutral 1, Meow Sleek Bengal, or Vapour …Read more

Mascara - Stila - Major Lash Mascara

2.0
Created with Sketch.

Aug/29/2013

I was pretty sure I was going to love this mascara the first time I applied it. It goes on easily - almost a gel consistency so neither too dry nor too thin - and is perfectly dark, glossy black. I am able to achieve a pretty dramatic look with 2 thin coats and get a bit of added volume (no lengthening, but I don't need it) without a bunch of clumps. I only find I need to deal with …Read more

Lip Treatments - Burt's Bees - Tinted Lip Balm - Honeysuckle

3.0

Aug/14/2013

All of the Burt's Bees tinted lip balms that I have tried have the same level of moisturizing going for them - they're emollient enough that my lips don't feel dry at all at then end of the day but not enough that would be a good choice for healing already dry, chapped lips. In my experience, this makes them A LOT more moisturizing than the non-tinted Burt's Bees products …Read more

Concealers - Unlisted Brand - Madison Street Beauty Redness Correcting Powder

4.0

Aug/13/2013

I've always like the idea of a green powder to balance the ever-present redness in my cheeks but those I've tried have always been too green or too dark for my super-pale skin. I picked up this one from Madison Street Beauty (on Etsy) because they were having a great sale. To be honest, the full price is really cheap compared to most mineral makeup as well.

This is a very …

Lip Gloss - Tarte Cosmetics - Showstopper Dazzling Lip Gloss

3.0

Aug/13/2013

I recieved this as a gift in the shade "dazzling nectar" which looks to be a bright melon/coral shade with gold microglitter in the tube. Sadly, it doesn't have the same bright pigment on the lips. I have fairly dark lips anyway so perhaps it would show up better on someone else, but I get just enough of a sheer, melon tint to make my lips look like my lips but warm (rather than …Read more

Foundations - Meow Cosmetics - Pampered Puss Mineral Foundation

4.0
Created with Sketch.

Aug/13/2013

This is only a preliminary review since I just got my jar of Pampered Puss and have only used it for two days - but so far I am really pleased.

Firstly, about me: I have combination skin that is equally likely to be perfectly balanced, greasier than a deep fryer, or extremely parched and dull. I am often, but not always, able to keep this under control with my skin care routine but I …

Cleansers - No Brand (DIY or homemade) - Oil Cleansing Method (OCM) with Polysorbate

5.0
Created with Sketch.

Aug/13/2013

I have been using 9 parts hemp seed oil, 1 part polysorbate 80 as my PM cleanser and makeup remover for about 2 years now and it's about the best thing I have ever done for my face. I have combination, (very) clog and acne prone skin that isn't sensitive really, but hasn't reacted well to any foaming, cream, or other cleansers in all my 29 years. I originally tried the …Read more

Cleansers - No Brand (DIY or homemade) - Oil Cleansing Method (OCM)

2.0
Created with Sketch.

Aug/13/2013

This is my review for the more "traditional" OCM - massaging with oil then using steam to remove said oil. I have since moved on, with much greater success, to oil cleansing with an emulsifier but I tried this way first.

NOTE: I have volitilely combination that can flip the switch between oil-slick and antique parchment in the blink of an eye. Additionally, most things (in …

Brows - Stila - Stay All Day Waterproof Brow Color

5.0
Created with Sketch.

Aug/12/2013

Stila's Stay All Day Waterproof Brow Color is the brow product I have been searching for. Everything else I have tried is either too warm, too dark, or goes on perfectly then oxidizes to a shade that is too warm or too dark. I have this in the lightest shade and it is an exact match for my ashy, medium-dark blonde brows without a hint red/orange/warm tones.

It comes in a sort of …
