Treatments (Face) - Pacifica - Super Flower Rapid Response Face Oil

This is a light-to-medium bodied, slightly blue tinted oil that smells a lot like children's Tylenol. I found it to be perfect for my normal/combination skin and although I don't use facial oils often, I ended up preferring this to my normal moisturizer. The bottle is cute, too. So why the 4 stars? At $18 it was still a bit much for me, although definitely way less than other azulene …Read more

Hair Treatments - Trader Joe's - Shea Butter & Coconut Oil Hair Mask

This is so, so good. I'm using this as my everyday conditioner (my hair is short so I don't need much) and have to consciously force myself to use up the other conditioner in the shower before I get a new tube. Very rich, very slippy, great ingredients. Might make a nice leave-in as well. This is $3.99 and smells nutty and smooth. Highly recommended - I'm pretty sure I've …Read more

Lotions/ Creams - Trader Joe's - Warm Vanilla Body Butter

Of the TJ's body butters I've tried (Vanilla, Coconut, and Pumpkin), this is my favorite scent. It's not cloying or artificial, has overall nice ingredients, and moisturizes well. I've managed to largely avoid my usual winter skin issues by using this cream either on its own or topping my Alba lotion. In terms of ingredients, I liked the Pumpkin formula the most, as it had …Read more

Cleansers - CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser

My skin is not especially sensitive, but this stung quite badly; cleansing shouldn't hurt, so I can't recommend it. I've done very well with CeraVe's gel cleansers, however.

Moisturizers - Unlisted Brand - Ursa Major Fortifying Face Balm

This is more like a lightly moisturizing serum than an actual moisturizer on my normal/combination-leaning-oily skin. The ingredients list is like a super-appealing salad bar but would probably be irritating for sensitive skin. Overall a perfectly decent product, but not at all close to what I expected and definitely too $$ to be so far off the mark.

Liquid - Hard Candy - Glamoflauge Invisible Camouflage Foundation

Hot mess. This formula pills like you wouldn't believe no matter what I put under it, including primers. Grabs onto every possible bit of texture and amplifies it. Shows streaks if you sweep it on and weird stucco-like texture if you pat it on (I've tried multiple methods). Doesn't mix with anything else, like sunscreens, primers, or highlighters. I appreciate the pale shade range …Read more

Moisturizers - La Roche-Posay - Toleriane Ultra Fluide

I am on my third bottle of this very simple, very lightweight moisturizer, and I foresee myself continuing to purchase this product until either my skin changes or I no longer have a place for it in my routine. As others have noted, the claims and copy that accompany this product create false expectations for performance: it is neither mattifying nor actively soothing. However, if you are …Read more

Lipstick - L'Oreal Paris - Colour Riche in Wisteria Rose

This is a creamy, medium coverage lipstick with a slightly shinier than satin finish. It has a very strong, very tenacious scent, like Mr. Bubbles but somewhat more solvent-y. I figured the scent would fade after it had been on for a few minutes, but when it was still going strong an hour after my original application, I opted just to remove the lipstick. It's a really unpleasant scent. …Read more

I'm somewhat on the fence over this product because the price is fairly high (I think mine was $28CAN) and I need to use a lot of it to get it through my chin-length hair, so I probably got fewer than 10 uses from the tube. That said, it did do exactly what it claimed to on the label.

My hair is naturally light brown to dark blond with natural highlights, 1c texture, fine but …
