I bought this shade hoping to use it as a single colour all over the eyelid, but it didnt work out. The plum/taupe shade is attractive but on fair skins it can look like a bruise. This is a reliable neutral beige shade for those days when you need a natural look. On my skin it also works as a solo colour for the whole lid, giving a pale smoky look. Not a great shade for drama, but brilliant for everyday wear, visiting your granny, etc, and the colour still shows if you wear spectacles!

This shade is a great base colour for 'natural' look eye makeup. It isn't shimmery, but gives an even cream-coloured coverage on pale skins. I agree with some reviewers that it can be a little chalky, but it still blends in well. It can also be used as a brow highlighter when applied against other colours. A great choice as either a base for building a more dramatic effect, or for use on its own as a natural look. I think it works well on fair skin and suits all ages. Grain has a little more shimmer than some of the other MAC satin eye shadows, so this might not be to all tastes, but it works quite well for me.
