A little gem...
Well, as a matter of fact, to fully appreciate this fragrance you have to love John Galliano's work, as this perfume resembles him: passionate, chaotic, baroque.. but yet innovative, exuberant, ultra feminine and... unforgettable!
I mean, if you are into minimalism (and we all were, like 15 years ago) here you'll be not really at home.
The juice of John Galliano's first fragrance is complex.
Starts off aldheydic, but immediately morphs into a fruity, deep scent (wait... not fruity like all the cheap peachy scents that are all around!!).
Mind you - it's not "sweet", nor would I define it pretty & easy.
It's a frag that draws your attention, that is not understated at all, that claims "Look at me".
You smell notes of plum, berries and immediately violet... and a deep rose. Then for a whiekl there is a blast of mint -at least to my nose it's something very fresh & almost balsamic.
It gets then powdery and warm... woody and oriental until the drydown. It is deep and feminine, but at the same time it evokes sunlight and life.
To me, the memories went immediately back to Lumière (Rochas) one of my darlings back in the Eighties (where Galliano is fishing a lot, lately!). I mean Lumière PRE- reformulation, mind you, the Original one!
I love it; be carful not to overdo as it is a full bodied fragrance and it can be heady.
Incredibly long staying power!

Forgot to mention the fabulous bottle: totally baroque, a range of "dégradé" shades from purple to vibrant pink ... evokes the silhouette of a lady, the collar being decorated with a golden rose, and the stopper/spay top is a black gothic lettering (JG initials). The outer box is depicting the oil-on-canvas portrait of a lady in the twenties perhaps. Original!

To me, a total must have.

Notes as per Osmoz:

top notes Aldehyde, Angelica
heart note Rose, Violet, Powdery Notes
base note Woodsy notes, Musk
