This is one of the best foundations I've had. I'm on my third bottle. A little goes a long way. Also it's very deeply pigmented, so on days when I want sheer coverage, I mix it with some sunblock and it looks great, less formal, and more satiny.

What it claims:
Perfect for combination skin with a tendency to shine, this oil-free formula delivers a soft, natural matte finish with maximum staying power. Medium coverage looks impeccable and shine-free for up to 12 hours.

What it does to me:
As I have combination skin and am oily on the t-zone/nose, this is a wonderful foundation. It gives me a soft, natural matte finish which is really nice and for those who prefer it. It lasts the whole day and can be applied with a stippling or paddle brush easily. It isn't shine free for 12 hours but it does last the whole day. It clogs easily so be prepared to use a thin instrument to fix it. Beautiful Product!

Recommended for combo/oily skin only. Not suited for dry skin as it will make the skin look chalky. Remember, this foundation is made for those with combo/oily skin so this foundation will benefit them the best.

I truly believe you get what you pay for with foundation - of course, there are a few exceptions. When I tried this in the department store I was so glad I'd found the right coverage/wear/consistency for my pale skin - finally.
The effect is truly luminous - it's like touche eclat for your whole face (without looking silly) as well as the matte finish I wanted as I can shine a lot.
I find it's much better to apply this with a foundation brush rather than fingers/sponge as you don't need a whole lot of it to get a really good result. The brush will help thin it out and spread it equally over the whole of your face for a natural but polished product.
I will give a slight word of caution about the pump - if it blocks up, it will projectile squirt, as my cream carpet will testify. Make sure to angle the pumphead downward onto the back of your hand to make sure it doesn't wander off!

EDIT: I absolutely love this foundation so I am changing my review from 4 lippies to 5. I love the way this applies and I get a ton of compliments. I can wear this without any major breakouts/pore clogging issues if I am careful about proper removal (MAC Cleanse Off Oil is excellent. I am so glad I discovered it!). The only thing I would like is more staying power, but I can fix this with powder or primer. I am going to keep repurchasing this until I find something better, which I don't think will be soon!

ORIGINAL REVIEW: This foundation has a gorgeous satiny finish that lasts me an 8-10 hour day. I didn't need a primer or powder. It goes on silky smooth and feels amazing. I would have loved this and repurchased this for the rest of my life, even though I consider it super expensive, if it just didn't clog my pores. I would even accept some minor clogging, but this gave me blackheads in places I've never had blackheads my entire life (ie, forehead) and near-teenage level breakouts in some areas. I remove my makeup really well, exfoliate regularly, and am in love with my Clarisonic, so I don't even want to know what this would do to someone who was doing less than me in terms of skincare. This is a shame because I really loved the way this foundation looked and lasted, and the color match was great (20 Clair for a MAC NW20). continued >>

I have combination skin and I am prone to breakouts around my chin area even thou I am approaching 43. Mat Lumiere is currently on my list of favorite foundations. It applies well and I don't need much of it to do the job. It is not as full coverage as Revlon Colorstay but it does stay on for a long time and it keeps my forehead from looking shiny. I wore this foundation during the extreme heat we had in the summer of 2011 with temperatures reaching 110 for almost 3 weeks straight.
This foundation is not a miracle in a bottle but it is pretty darn good in my opinion. Mat Lumiere did not let me down. This is a pricey item (as most HE brands are) but worth every penny I had saved for it. My shade is Clair 20. I will buy this baby for as long as it is available and for as long as I have a job :)

OMG, Cannot believe I haven't written a review on this..I am on my third bottle and have only been using this since november last year. I was using bobbi brown foundation before this and I am after a matte look because this shiny, dewy stuff is not for me. Anyways, when I came across beautypedia, this is one of best rated foundations (beautypedia is a site where they review products based on their formulation and whether or not its good for your skin etc) so I decided to give this a try and guess what! I am in LOVE! this is most amazing foundation, I wear it every single day of year. No breakouts, no damaging my skin and since most foundations have SPF, this one has SPF that actually works and protects your skin *mark my words* so its actually good for your skin. My skin breaks out when I actually use stuff that is not good for my skin but this has never made me break out and sometimes I have even slept in it ew! I know..but still its all good. Coverage wise, just right! doesnt look too caked up nor is it sheer, just right and can be buildable too. pricey but sooo worth it! Also, I have tried Nars, Clinique, MAC (Studio fix comes close this but lacks SPF) Maybelline, Australis, MUFE, you name it! but this stands out! I am Indian my actual colour is NC30 but I wear couple of shades lighter since the foundation oxides and we like looking fairer ;) as opposed to Aussie girls who like a tan! so I wear NC25-20 in MAC and my shade in this foundation is Claire 20. Hope this helps xxx

I adore this product! Even though it's called mat, it doesn't look 'caked' on, in fact it feels very light in comparison to foundations such as 'MAC fix fluid' and looks very natural. It has great staying power, I can wear it for a full working day without the need for any touch ups.

love this foundation it's so natural looking yet it really gives good coverage. i love that this products matt it's so easy to blend and the staying power is great.......i use the chanel matt powder over this and i don't have to touch my makeup up all day i would probably need to a sheet of bloting paper mid day but thats it :) UPDATE this stuff breaks me out like crazy it gives me 100s of tiney bumps all over my face each time i wear it and the thing that hurts the most is i'm stuck with this foundation because here in the uk we can't return products once they have been used. this is a very expensive regret for me :(

Am on my second bottle already. I share my foundation use with Missha Signature BB Cream though. My mom uses the VitaLumiere by Chanel and she is completely smitten, on her fourth bottle already when she started using later than me.

What can I say? I strongly believe in the research behind this particular high end brand in skincare and makeup. I don't think the price is expensive because it is indeed worth it. If you have combination skin and don't want to see yourself oil up over the day, this liquid foundation is extremely long-lasting with fantastique coverage. It covers every nitty gritty detail on your face very well. I often get compliments of having clear skin while using this.

Get it if you can afford! Otherwise, I would recommend Missha's line of BB Cream. I actually use Missha a lot more, for everyday college use especially, because it is cheaper and gives better coverage than Chanel's. However, this can be seen as too thick for some people. So there....
