I too am disappointed by the lousy reviews on this one, as I personally love this perfume. It's a smoky incense scent - perfect for the fall/winter months. What I like about it is it is not "too perfumey" or overpowering as some incense perfumes can be. I have the absolute, which lasts most of the day. I do find CB's water perfumes do not have much staying power - the …Read more

Wish I got woods, incense, or even patchouli. Instead what dominates for me is burning paper. A bit TOO fiery. I much prefer Burning Leaves (also by CB I Hate Perfume) for a purely-smoke accord.

Notes: frankincense, myrrh, opopanax, cedar, sandalwood, styrax and labdanum.

This fragrance opens with incense and pine (cedar in disguise). It is very soft and sheer and somehow flatlines after 45 minutes. All I see is a sheer salty, woodsy remnant of the opening accord. Much to my surprise the fragrance returns from the netherworld smelling like Huitieme Art's Myrrhiad. Myrrh …

Great fall and winter scent, but deeply polarizing. I used to hate the initial strong medicinal note, but have come to appreciate it. FFH begins smoky and harsh, like a bonfire with a touch of camphor, and stays quite intense for several hours. There is a dusty, astringent bite that lingers, with an evolving array of notes underneath that finally mellow into something sweet and woodsy. Worth …Read more

This is the one of the first fragrances that I have tried from this house, and I sure wish I had discovered it sooner! I love the fact that CB's fragrances are entirely different from mainstream, department store scents, the best of which still smell like "perfume" and are far from distinct or original.
On me it is a warm, woodsy scent, and is very inviting according to those …

I'm sad that Fire From Heaven has gotten such poor reviews here so far, because this is really a gorgeous fragrance, and I hope that more people will try it and give their opinions.

Here is what it says on the CB I Hate Perfume website:

Smoke represents perhaps the most important aspect of …

Starts with resinous rich promise and fades quickly and without looking back to a dirty, harsh patchouli. Terrible and cheap smelling on me.

I was looking forward to incense, but got a lot of patchouli instead. It seemed to linger all day, never diminishing. I found it overwhelming, but it might be perfect for patchouli lovers.

(WaterPerfume) The first impression that I get from this is very, very dry weathered yet fragrant wood (like an old cedar shingle or a picnic table) and a hint of patchouli, with something faintly lively shimmying in the background. So subtle, and unlike anything else. A soft spoken and elegant wood scent that is only very faintly smoky in the drydown. Frankly, this just smells *gooood* …Read more
