This isn't a night at the beach but the end of a beautiful summer day, when the sun is low and the light from the sky reflects pink off the sand. It's the smell of hot pebbles spit out by the briny surf and driftwood washed up on the shore tangled in fecund seaweed. It's barnacles on algae-covered rocks and a big leather tote bag that's been sitting by the white cotton blanket …Read more

After reading reviews here and elsewhere, I had such high hopes that this would work for me. I want something salty, warm, slightly sweet -- like nighttime at the beach, where a warm breeze washes the smell of the ocean and nearby flowers (night-blooming jasmine? orange blossom?) over you.

This isn't any of that. It's maybe salty, very marine-y, and quite crisp. It just never …

This is what I have been looking for in a marine scent. I smell salt, seaweed, sun-baked driftwood, faint citrus trees in the distance, algae, an old Chris Craft, water, sand and most importantly, no suntan oil or coconut. It smells to me how I imagine the sailing scene in The Talented Mr. Ripley must have smelled.
Only downsides are cheap printing on the label (it smudged when touched with …

The concept of this drove me crazy with longing; if ever there was a scent that would appeal to me, this was it. It turns out to be not bad but it’s very feeble, and doesn’t go anywhere in particular, just a light marine scent with a touch of dry leather. It was so much better in my imagination than in reality.

What a beautiful beautiful fragrance! It really does provoke a memory in me.
It reminds me of the ocean in the bretagne in late summer. It has gotten a little cooler and the ocean even wilder. I`m standing knee-deep in the water, wondering if I will be thrown at a rock if I risk to go surfing now. My hair is all tangled up and salty and the wind pinches my red cheeks. Seagulls are flying …

This review is based on a 2 ml sample of the oil, I have not smelled the water perfume.
Mr. Hulot's Holiday is a pleasant fragrance. I do smell some lightly woody, and very lightly leathery notes in this composition, but that "salty sea air" smell is very hard to capture. Unfortunately, Mr. Hulot's Holiday falls down a bit in that department for me - I smell a soft …

Mr. Hulot's Holiday draws my memory right back to Martha's Vineyard-- not so much in the high season of summer but more in the off season ... In late September, when the air is cooler -- the water's still warm and the nights are getting longer. There is a chilly dampness in the air. In the distance, the dry smoke from beach driftwood fires fills the humid air and chases the …Read more

This begins much too marine smelling for me. Thankfully, that fades quickly and falls to the background to form a salty, ocean smell. It is nothing like a suntan lotion but more like a beach at night where there may have been a bonfire earlier but has now been covered by the tide. It is the smell of ocean air wafting around that previously quenched fire with driftwood. These smells are …Read more

"The salty breath of the breeze off the Mediterranean, driftwood, rocks covered with seaweed and the smell of old leather suitcases."

This smells like driftwood that's been saturated with salty ocean water. I think it's beautiful.

Hmm, this one is an strange scent. It does smell a bit like the ocean, but it smells as if something has decayed in the ocean or the seaweed has gone terribly bad.
At the Beach is a beautiful marine scent and changes on your skin into this salt water loveliness. I recommend you purchase it for that distinctive ocean fragrance.
