The opening of Safran Troublant smells, as other reviewers have pointed out, just like Indian rice pudding, with raisins and rosewater. I am half Indian, and this fragrance definitely hits some sensory memories for me. I would have been bored if Safran Troublant were a straight-up gourmand, but luckily the drydown is quite a bit muskier and more sensuous than the foody-sweet opening. I'm …Read more

Wet on the skin I inhale saffron and raisins as rosewater is sprinkled on top. The whole dish fades and harmonizes as it dries, with the rose predominant over the saffron. Quite lovely but it disappears rapidly. Although I don't mind soft or musky scents that fade quickly, leaving a cozy warmth on the skin, this is far too quick to flee my chemistry to keep me cozy for any reasonable …Read more

I got this in the spice coffret set, and I think this is my favorite of the bunch (with the poive piquant as the second fav)! This is an absolutely dreamy fragrance - the vanilla, saffron, and rose all blend wonderfully together. This fragrance is almost edible to me (like rice pudding with rose syrup)! Like a lot of the L'artisans, it does fade a little quicker than I would like, but you …Read more

I would describe this scent as a finer quality of Chloe Narcisse mixed with a deep spicy but soft rose.

This lasted well on me considering i used a dab on sample.
If you like spicy orientals then this would be something to try.
Very well made.

Oh...I so love this!! I think this is the sexiest fragrance I have ever encountered and I see myself purchasing it many times. I appreciate that it is light which makes it so appropriate for bedtime affairs......
I did withold one lippy due to how quickly it goes away. I wish that the creators would consider an extreme version.

I got a sample of this a long time ago and was watching a bottle on e-bay, so decided that I'd pull the sample out to see if I liked it enough to buy a bottle. No. It smells pleasant enough, though I mostly get the vanilla out of it. In that regard, it smells to me like a very very pale imitation of SL Un Bois Vanille. I did not get the rose AT ALL, and now that I remember, I swapped for …Read more

Ugh. This combination of rose and spice makes me feel a little nauseous.

While not the most complex scent I've ever owned, Safran Troublant stands out to me as one of the more unique scents I've tried. Not too spicy, not too sweet, SF is an almost unisex gourmand. It's creamy and milky, but also warm and woody. I was afraid the rose might make it powdery, but no, it's very rich and wet. Though the saffron isn't as strong as I'd like on my …Read more

I think the name of the fragrance translates into 'Saffron Spell' and I find that to be very accurate. My first sample vial was addictive, and I could not stop sniffing my wrists when I had this on. While I do love all of the listed notes, they all tend to be heavier than they actually are in the scent. I expected it to be a bit spicier from the saffron and the rose to be more …Read more

Strong saffron top notes, and then it reminds me of baking gingerbread cookies, even though they don't contain saffron. But there's a warm, milky vanilla sweetness in the dry-down that has a homey yet refined feel to it (certainly not "troublesome" or disturbing for me). Even though it's a wonderful gourmand fragrance, I "wouldn't buy it again" only …Read more
