Safran Troublant is one fragrance that has stood out in my recent journey of discovering perfumes on a more than simply superficial level. It's among my favorites.
I have always liked smells that somehow manage to give a "creamy" impression, and this one is a great example. The notes blend together rather than standing out individually, sharply against a background. It's …

As much about rose and vanilla as it is about saffron. I like but don't love it--I think it's too foody for me. For a spiced rose by Giacobetti, I prefer Monsoon Season--in spite of its name, it's drier.

Light and spicy, almost transparent/spicy -- an unusual combination indeed. I don't smell any creaminess and its lightly gourmand note is not something I would like for my fragrance. It remains quite bland, at least on my skin.

Sweet rice pudding?? Creamy milk?? I would spend a whole week's wage on any perfume that has those scents in it, so LUCKY i only bought a sample of this. I can't smell either of those things - Im so upset! This is like a light fresh spice scent. The opening smells like saffron with hint of lemon zest to it. That dies down and the other notes are all there in pretty equal measure, and …Read more

This scent smells like the color "gold" to me. It's luminous, sweet, warm, gourmand yet sophisticated. It's a great Winter scent, though I've been experimenting wearing it on Spring days, as well. It just must mix well with my chemistry. It also reminds me of childhood memories of luxurious spices--which, in turn, evoke feelings of safety, comfort, and fullness. …Read more

I agree with the other reviews that say this smells like Indian rice pudding: sweet, cardomom-y, warm. It's pleasant enough, but I kept hoping for more - more depth or complexity or something surprising. But on me, it's just straight-up dessert, and a bit too sweet for my tastes.

I love Safran Troublant. I swapped for a full bottle of this, never having smelled it, based entirely on the notes and the reviews here in Pville. I swore I'd never do that again, but I'm so glad I did. This smells like a spicy, Indian rice pudding with just a hint of rose. Really sexy. And it lasted for hours on me with great sillage. It's a great fragrance for when …Read more

Such a strange fragrance on me its almost like two completely different fragrances it starts out as a very harsh saffron then after an hour or so turns into a very sweet creamy vanilla. I hate the saffron beginning and am certainly not getting the rose that other reviewers get but I like the drydown its sweet, milky and comforting without being overpowering and sickly. I don't think it is …Read more

Safran Troublant is like following up a delicious Indian meal with an equally delicious Indian dessert. This fragrance is mostly all about the dessert course, but it does open with what smells like a bit of cumin (even though it's not listed as a note) reminding you of the curry you just finished. The cumin dissipates and is replaced by gentle saffron, rose, not-too-sweet vanilla and …Read more

Erm...this smells like straight up BO on me. A weird sort of plasticky BO scent floats above a bed of vanilla, violet, rose, musk and sandalwood . Every once in a while the notes waft past my nose and it will smell like an absolutely delicious candied, rice pudding scent and then the BO slams me back to reality. Who put all this curry instead of saffron in my perfume? Don't think I can …Read more
