I used this once, was really disappointed, forgot about it, and used it again a year later and was really disappointed again. The color on the box is just about my ideal coppery auburn, but my results came out nothing like it. It looked very desaturated, with dull yellowish/orangeish brassy tones, nothing like the rich copper/auburn brown it advertises. Like others have mentioned, it did leave my hair feeling very dry and brittle initially, but I'm CG and have some pretty heavy-hitting conditioners, so it wasn't a very lasting issue.

Beware of the included gloves as well, they're very cheaply made and both times I took them off to discover they leaked.

The one positive thing I can say for this dye is it did lift my med/dark brown hair, so I was able to use a semi-permanent to deposit about the color I was looking for after - but the color itself was a big letdown.

I've been dying my hair red for the past 2 years, everything from burgundy to ginger. I was using L'Oreal Excellence, then Preference, then Feria a few times, then Garnier. I couldn't find my usual Garnier shade at Walgreens so picked this up. I'm surprisingly impressed with this dye, especially for the price. Since it's ammonia free, the smell of the dye isn't too offensive. Not too impressed with the conditioner, but for the price I can overlook that. It turned out almost exactly like on the box on my naturally light brown hair. It's a true medium warm auburn which complements my skin tone really nicely. I've had bad experiences with cooler toned reds that washed me out. If I don't feel like experimenting with another color, I'll definitely repurchase.

Well, first off, I really didn't expect a lot from this product, as it was cheap but had quite a lot of good reviews, and I am low on funds. What I didn't expect was the nasty shock I was in for. This dye comes out in a gel form when you mix it in the applicator bottle, and it goes on quite nicely on my hair. The colour came out quite well, a brown-ish red, which is exactly what I have been looking for. The omen of my now ensuing nightmare began when I was washing out the dye for the first time. The cone-free lovers would get this, it felt like the first time you washed your hair with cone-free shampoo, except in my case my hair felt so dry I can't even comb my fingers through the tangles that has formed in my hair in fear of breakage. I felt relieved when I applied the conditioner it came with, )the gardinia scent is quite nice too) my hair felt soft again, and my usual styling went well afterwards. Except the feeling of extreme dryness came back at the next shampoo, if I had no stock of hair dye conditioners I would be very tempted to pull them out. it's such a tangled mess without them. I have no idea what I have to do after a run out of the stock of the conditioners. My hair has never felt this dry, even with the Liese bubble dyes that at least makes your hair feel nice WITHOUT having to put in the conditioners it came with. So, the only pros of this product is the ease of applying evenly, the result colour, and the false hope of manageable hair. Now I will probably have to hire some large guns to combat the condition my hair has gotten in, and waste more money on it. Lesson learned, you get what you pay for! Will call out to Asian girls out there who is considering this dye, DON'T DO IT!

I'll come back with an update of how I fixed it, if I find a way out of this mess without cutting it all off!

Update 2/6/15

Went back to silicone conditioners for two weeks, my hair got incredibly dry and brittle at the ends because of my constant straightening and actual dehydration from all the silicone products. Switched back to heavyduty LUSH shampoo and condtioner (Rehab/Retread) on top of HWH pre-wash treatment at every shampoo, the condition of my hair has gotten a lot better. The colour has faded to chocolate brown in the 6 weeks since. Definitely won't repurchase.

This $3.00 dollar box of hair color makes my naturally light brown hair the perfect medium red shade. I'd gone completely natural for a while and was worried about coloring it myself, but it came out perfect. It's a real shade of red: not too bright or with any purple undertones. It didn't leave my hair dry or damaged either. And everyone thinks it's my natural color! I'll definately be sticking with this product.

i absolutely love this hair color, it has exactly the red tone and radiance i was looking for and looks very natural, i've been using it for two years and has no damaged my hair. The only con is that fades so fast, i need to shampoo daily because i have oily hair and live in a hot weather city in summer (around 104 F) after two weeks it looks a blending od brown-red-blonde and it's Ok but it's not what i want so i have to re-coloring.

Firstly, I don't think the colour on the box picture is very natural. BUT the colour your hair will turn DOES look natural! And it is a beautiful, glossy medium red, exactly like it says.

I've been dying my hair blonde and so when I went red it was more of a strawberry blonde. But this makes my hair a definite red-red. Not orange, not purple. But still natural. I also have a cool, very pale skin tone and yet this red doesn't make me look sallow at all - rather it highlights my pale skin which makes me happy!

It's great. The conditioner did make my hair feel quite thick, but after the first wash the feeling was gone. I didn't wash my hair for 3 days after dying, get some dry shampoo and spray-on leave-in conditioner and the dye will settle.

I dyed my hair this color coming from an already natural auburn that was just a bit lighter because I just wanted a minor change. It has come out looking really fake though and now I really miss my natural hair color. Maybe this color works great for other people with a different hair color, but in my case it was a total fail. Guess that was a mistake :(

I spent many hundreds of dollars to keep my hair red.... after trying this out I am hooked. My hair doesn't like to stay red so I color once a month. Its $3.00 so its not a big deal. This is my HG hair color. I just bought tressa watercolors color depositing shampoo in crimson splash so hopefully that can make this last. Either way I will always come back to this dye. The conditioner it comes with is amazing it makes my hair feel wonderful.

Love. Love. Looooove this color. I'm a brunette and have been wanting to go lighter for a long time, so I bought the Revlon Dark Auburn for a little change and then I found a coupon for more Revlon so I decided to do the Medium Auburn. This is the exact color that I wanted and looks really good with my skin. I'm African American and light-skinned and was afraid it would wash me out, but it looks great. And for 3 bucks, I'm stocking up on this color and more.

Revlon Colorsilk was my fourth try at box-dyed red. Red is the only color I've ever dyed my hair; I'm naturally a dirty blonde with reddish undertones. I must say I was more than a little scared to try a hair dye that costs less than $3--I bought two boxes for my mid-back-length hair, which I normally have to do--but I was pleasantly surprised.

This color is just about perfect.

I can't tell you how many people were in disbelief when I told them this wasn't my natural hair color. I was asked, "Which one of your parents was a redhead?" and even told, "You must be Irish." Not kidding. It's a perfectly balanced, natural-looking shade of red. Believe it or not, I dyed it over two months ago and it is STILL going strong, if a bit faded (although my hair seems to love red dye and clings to it easily). As long as you don't wash your hair often (I personally opt for twice a week) and use a color-safe shampoo, this will LAST like you won't believe.I'm dyeing it again tonight to cover the roots, although I've chosen a different brand simply because I want a darker auburn for Fall. I know I'll be coming back to Colorsilk for the Spring. This shade is a winner: beautiful, natural, and an unbelievably good deal.
