I've been using this for the last couple weeks and I really liked it at first. It removes makeup (including all of my gel liner and mascara) really good and leaves my skin feeling moisturized and clean. But I could I have started to break out and this is the only new thing I've been using :( It does leave a greasy/oily feeling after about twenty minutes so maybe it was too much oil for my combo/sensitive skin? Also the directions state to use on dry skin so It might be more difficult to use in shower.....

So I just had to find an alternative to Dermalogica's Precleanse due to its price which really becomes unsustainable if you use it almost everyday. DHC Deep Cleansing Oil is not a dupe for it but it essentially works just as well. I enjoy Dermalogica's consistency more as the oil is much thinner - DHC's feels (and kinda smells) like you're rubbing cooking oil on your face. BUT! It hasn't made me oilier nor broken me out. It cleans off all my face makeup after emulsifying it with water, and following up with a second cleanser (as per usual). This product has become a necessity and I'm happy to be saving some money.

Pros: + Clean ( I feel like DHC give me a cleaner skin than Bioderma ) + Gives me soft skin + Dissolves waterproof eyeliner + mascara well + Does not sting the eyes + Does not cause breakouts Cons: + Hard to remove lipsticks by massaging with DHC + Used at night only ( can't be used to fix makeup mistakes ) + Expensive

I was really excited but also nervous when buying this product, since I have acne-prone, oily skin. I'm halfway done with my full-sized bottle, so here goes... I tried the oil cleansing method as mentioned on the bottle: dry hands, dry face, wash off. Broke me out and it took FOREVER to clear up. Everyone's skin is different; I broke out. Well, that means I have a big bottle of eye makeup remover now. And that's how I've been using it. I liked that it (used to) only had two ingredients: olive oil, and an extra surficant/cleansing agent. So it was glorified olive oil. Whatever. Still bought it. It works fine as a makeup remover, but I won't repurchase because DHC TESTS ON ANIMALS. In this day and age, there's nothing to be gained from it. I used to ignore it even if I knew a company (Estee Lauder, Clinique, MAC, Bobbi Brown, Lancome) tested on animals, since it was inconvenient. But I couldn't do it anymore; it's not fair that these animals have to be subject to fatal tests b/c of my laziness.

This is a great makeup remover. I got this as a sample and have since gone through two bottles. Although it's olive oil, it feels very light and non sticky. I use it on a dry face and it dissolves eye pencil, mascara, foundation (EL Doublewear) wonderfully without dragging my skin. I clean it up with a flannel and then go in for a good splash of water on my face to take away any oil that might be left behind. The oil turns milky on contact with water so if I am cleansing in the shower then I just let it rinse off. But I always use a wet flannel afterwards the reason being that if this gets into your eyes then it's going to sting( found out the hard way). It doesn't leave any greasy residue behind nor does my skin feel stripped. I have combination skin but this product definetly works for me. The bottle is extremely functional and sturdy. No leakage and just enough product comes out with each pump to clean a full face of makeup. You can defiantly use it as a second cleanse for a good massage because the product gives you a very good grip without being too slipy.

I was not sold on oil based cleansers despite reading a rather compelling argument on 'oil absorbs oil' in cosmetic chemistry formulation. Serendipitously I received this cleanser as a gift and decided to test out the theory. It's fantastic. Does not strip the skin of oil, but cleanses away the grimy, sticky feeling on your skin. Makeup, waterproof or not, melts right off. On the other hand, olive oil soaked onto a cotton pad does the same job as DHC on cotton pad in removing eye makeup, and is much cheaper. I limit to cleaning with DHC once in a blue moon, not even once in a week. It's great for when you're PMSing and breaking out, extra oily and hormonal but doesn't do much when your skin is fine, you don't need to use this to maintain good skin. Be VERY careful around your eye area, this is really hard to rinse out unless you have a bottle of saline solution on hand because water + oil do not mix. Definitely would recommend despite the price tag because you can use sparingly.

I am on my fourth bottle of this stuff, and I will probably use it for the rest of my life. It seriously dissolves makeup, dirt, and oil, like NO OTHER! It is so easy to use, and rinses clean every time. this product BLOWS MY MIND. it works SO good, and I just don't understand how! My Fiance uses this cleanser, and I've told about 93847529745 people about it. My boss thinks i'm crazy because i'm always talking about DHC products.

I finally got my hands on this after visiting a nearby Japanese supermarket. However, I was quickly disappointed in my experience. It cleans - it will get that waterproof mascara off. The long wear lipstick. etc It's light - nothing stick or oily will be left over after you rinse off with water. But, please make sure you don't get the oil and water mixture into your eyes because it will burn. I found that the hard way and was really surprised because the MAC and Boscia cleanse off oils do not do that. The bottle is much larger than MAC and Boscia, so it will last a long time, it took me about 6 months to get thru my bottle. But I won't be repurchasing this item.

This is a great makeup remover and cleanser. I have combo skin and it doesn't make my oily areas oiler,it actually makes them less oily.I like to use this twice, once to remover makeup then again to cleanse. It leaves my skin moisturized and clean feeling. It's a great product.

This is a game changer for me. I am a makeup wearer that used to use face wipes to remove make up and I always suffer from dryness and breaks outs after using these wipes. This removes my eye makeup an face make up in one step. I do not use a secondary cleanser after this. This product rinses very clean and i can even wipe my face a paper towel if I do not have washcloths and there is very little residue. There is a little oil left over after lathering but I find it moisturizing and it does not break me out. Sensitive acne prone combo skin.
