This is the matte lipstick that will most likely outlive any other nude-spectrum shade in my collection. For me personally, it is a color I can reach for with any number of day or night, casual or bold, year-round looks and somehow not get bored. It's not pale but not dark, not orangey but not mauvey, you get the drift. Just a true brown-based medium nude with full opacity that somehow doesn't scream "Brown" on me, but adds just enough to button up any look I am going for.
This is a honest nude color, not a rosy pink or a mauve, or a cool ashy brown trying to pass off as a nude. If you are opposed to warmer shades I can't say you'll love this, because between cool and warm I believe it leans more warm, but still strikes me as pretty neutral. I don't really like warmer lip colors, they turn orange on me, and this definitely doesn't.
This is full opacity and fully matte, but velvety in finish and not drying on me in the least. The staying power is great, and because it's a more subtle color I feel it wears really well throughout the day.
Say what you will about MAC, but one thing they do consistently well is matte lipsticks, and Velvet Teddy is the one I find myself reaching for most often. This is just a beautiful color and formula, and a hands-down must for anyone who appreciates nude lip colors.
