Lotsa people seem to dislike this scent. I wonder if somehow, my chemistry is totally different from others? This scent never failed to evoke a certain feeling of melancholy and wistfulness to me. I also somehow get an "apple" accord from this oil, and that reminds me of an innocent child running through the field, cheeks flushed, looking and smelling like a red …Read more

in the vial: ehhhh. very heady and floral.

wet on skin: almost skanky with the florals. maybe its the lily. some people can detect notes in certain florals (jasmine, stargazer lily) that others cant, and i think im one of those …

Ahhhh, Ophelia is a sharp affront to my nasal passages!

Slightly bitter and green, it reminds me a bit of bic pen ink - oddly.

A strong and clean floral scent. It's almost a little heady and overbearing. I would imagine a strong and powerful woman wearing this scent. I do like some notes in here, but overall - no. I can't pull this type of scent off. It doesn't wear well on me.

Oh Ophelia...I don't know what to say. I really wanted to like this one based on the reviews. Our chemistries just do not click. On me Ophelia smelled like a really strong hotel soap bar. When I sent for my imps...she was my most coveted and was so excited. I did like my other imp...clicked with me very well. I know everyones chemistry is different. I will be still trying out more scents …Read more

This is my first fragrance from Black Phoenix and I got it based on the reviews below. I was expecting something else, a dreamy, water laced aroma of a forgotten time...marsh reeds, maidens, magic. What I smelled on me was soapy rose water and glycerine. It really burst my bubble, but I'm going to try other fragrances from them. I know everyone's chemistry is different so I'm …Read more

Ophelia is one of the first 10 or so BPAL scents I ever tried, and immediately won her way into my heart. She is a lovely scent, full of feminine florals and something else that makes it simultaneously herbal and creamy. She is a gorgeous scent that I am looking forward to wearing again in the summertime.

My favorite of all BPAL fragrances. Ophelia smells light and innocent, but evokes a certain sadness when worn. I picture the scene in Hamlet when she killed herself in the pond, and many different kinds of flowers surrounded her as she lay lifeless in the water. How many fragrances will evoke such imagery?

On the days when you want something soft, sweet, delicate, and utterly feminine. . .this is it. This is femininity distilled. On my skin, Ophelia is white rose, sweetened with lily and lotus, and underscored with a light, creamy note. The ivy adds a touch of "greeness" that keeps the florals in check. Since it is so light, I assumed that it wouldn't last on my skin, but I was …Read more
