I got fooled into buying this by all the magazine endorsements it had when it was first launched in the UK. Oh my goodness, what a stripy mess it turned me into!

First off, let me explain that I'm used to using self tanners I know to exfoliate thoroughly, to keep my skin moisturised, protect elbows, knees, etc. and the whole shebang. So I paid a stupid amount for this Fake …

OMG! No wonder this was hard to find online. The WORST self-tanner I have every purchased, AND the most expensive!!! It was I believe $24 (plus S&H), I knew immediately I had made a mistake. It is DARK, a dark brown almost gray tinged color. It does work fairly quickly, but very hard to work with (at least my NW23 coloring), and when you shower? Your tan goes down the drain!!! It also …Read more

This product is way to expensive for what it is, It dries quickly and the guide is good but as soon as i have a shower the colour goes and i am left with a slight tan. It comes off in odd places despite moisterising daily and exfoliating. It only lasts about 2 days before it starts to come off and omg my feet looked disgusting, it all rubs off where your shoes are and i also get strap lines where …Read more

I LOVE the color this gave me, but it dried my face out big time. I'm tempted to try the one for face because the color was natural, but my face looked like leather the next morning. Not such a bad smell, but it is VERY messy to apply, it dripped on my clothes and counter top, it's very dark, which is good, guide wise, but you absolutly need the gloves they supply. I don't know …Read more

I had heard so many good reviews about fake bake I decided to give it a try. It's hands down the worst tanner i've tried. I liked the thickness and the color guide, but the color washed down the drain. I left it on all night and it got all over everthing. It gave me no color whatsoever after using it 3 times in one week. I have light olive skin, so normally sunless tanners work better …Read more

I used a whole bottle of this before writing a review and believe me, I waffled over what to give it. I couldn't decide if it was a 3 or a 4. I settled on 4 because the performance of the product is good but the negatives kind of overshadow this in my book. Ok so the advantages of fake bake are: (1) It has such a dark color guide, it is almost impossible to screw it uo, You can see exactly …Read more

After tanning in a tanning bed for 2 years, I decided it was just not worth it to take a chance on having skin cancer. So, I started researching to find a good self tanner. I have used them in the past, so I knew how to apply them. I used to use Toma's Tan Perfect (which I liked), but decided to go with Fake Bake and I really like it. I like the dark color guide AND the thickness. I feel …Read more

I had heard lots of good things about this product, so I decided to give it a go. I have had lots of practice applying self-tan, but actually found this brand quite difficult to apply. The consistency is gloopy, and it dries very quickly so you have to work fast to get even coverage. The colour guide isn't nice (unnatural dirty brown colour) - meaning you have to apply it at night, so that …Read more

I was really dissapointed with this product, especially at the price of £20.20, as compared to normal brands which cost about £6. The colour is less orange than other fake tans, but that really doesn't matter because this stuff just looks terrible! When you first put it on, it looks really scary, because it is a deep sort of mucky brown/green so you can see where you are applying it, and …Read more

I had high hopes for this but it was a dissapointment. I did not like the color guide which was dark brown and it turned me orangey. I have pale skin. Won't buy again. I have better luck with drugstore brands.
