I would give it 3.5 stars if I could. When my brother had really bad acne, using this every night helped him clear it, which is good. My face felt a bit tight after using this, I am not a fan of the shape of the soap, it's not the easiest to hold. This did a poor job at removing my makeup. A huge positive is that it helped to curb break outs. I've switched over to Aveeno's Moisturizing Bar Soap, which I love much more than this. The Aveeno soap has very gentle ingredients, is a "non soap" meaning it doesn't have harsh surfactants. I love the texture the oatmeal provides, and the shape of the soap makes it easier to either apply directly to my face or lather in my hands. Overall I have a better experience washing my face with Aveeno. Aveeno's soap bar leaves my face feeling more soft than Clinique, and takes off my makeup very well in the process. I'm so happy the $3 soap legitimately turned out better than the $15 one.

I'm 50 and have combo skin which tends to get drier in the winter. I chose extra mild because my cheeks have been hyper sensitive after recently trying some retinol treatment.I love the feel of soap on my skin and the clean feeling it achieves. It came in the classic green case which is useful but the whole lot gets pretty messy after just a couple uses. Remember to periodically take the case apart, and rinse and dry everything off. I usually use this twice a day, followed with toner--not Clinique's because I'm using up some from another brand before I buy more. I switch between Moisture Surge and Dramatically Different moisturizers, depending on how my skin is feeling. This soap is no fuss, a little muss, but perfect for my cleansing needs. I've tried oils, creams, gels, foaming cleansers, etc., but I'm very pleased with the 3-step approach with Clinique and will be sticking to this routine as my skin is reacting very well to this regimen. When my skin needs some exfoliation, instead of using another product, I use my Olay battery-operated cleansing brush with this soap. My skin feels baby soft after this process. I like Clinique skin care but I wish the other products were as cost efficient as the soap.

Okay....I have dry sensitive skin and I LOVE this soap. I remove my makeup with Take The Day Off Balm(tissue off) and then cleanse with Clinique extra mild soap. I wet the bar and make a good lather in my hands until the soap feels more like cream and then apply to my face. I rinse with warm water until all traces of soap are gone and then dry my face with Kleenex hand towels...they are a excellent way to exfoliate a little without irritating your skin. My skin glows and I would recommend this product to all skin types...

Holy moly, I can't believe that this soap doesn't have better ratings. This is the shit, I swear. I've been using it for years. I got it as part of the 3-step-system back in the day, but didn't like the moisturizer nor the toner, but damn it, did I fall in love with this thing. I love the idea of cleaning your face with a good-old fashioned bar of soap, but I could never in a million years use a regular soap... too irritating, too much fragrance, and way too drying. But this is just amazing. I have really dry skin, and I couldn't agree less with the ladies who claim that it's too drying. Sure, I have to apply moisturizer right away, but I'd have to do that with any cleansing product. What I love most about it is how natural it all feels... I was raised in the mountains and this totally feels like you're washing your face in some well with a basic bar of soap. And oh my God, it lathers so nicely, it's a dream. It only has a very slight smell, no perfume at all, it just smells really fresh. I apply this twice. First time to get the night/day off, second round to cleanse even deeper and get this super cool squeaky feeling that I so adore. My face feels so fresh and clean and pure after it, and it evens out my skin tone. I'd never even consider trying out something else. Also: This lasts for ages and ages and ages, I mean it, one bar lasts me for like year, and I use it twice a day. So the value you get for the price is great, too. A fantastic product. Basic but wohoo!

Best facial cleanser ever. I've used this soap for about 20 years and it's never drying. It's also the best makeup remvover. I backup on this soap. I've tried so many other cleansers and I got tired of it and decided to write this review. This soap takes off all your makeup like a dream. I think for using this soap for so long with my skin care, my skin looks younger than my age by many years. What I like about it is that it's so creamy and smooth and takes makeup off instantly and I wear waterproof makeup. I wet my face with water first and then lather my face and rinse well and them I spray my face with moisture surge spray and wait 30 seconds and then add moisturizer and eye cream. Pure love!

I love all of Clinique's bar soaps, except the Acne Solutions. this is great at cleansing and removing all makeup. it gives could lather, and feels creamy. It comes in the classic Clinique soap dish. It does not dry my skin out at all. This is a good option for someone who likes to use soap, but needs one that does it all without stripping the skin. That's exactly what this is. In case of residue, the Mild clarifying lotion goes amazingly well with this.

Fairly gentle on skin, did cause a bit of dryness if used more than once a day. I like using this soap to wash my makeup off to go to the gym which is usually mid day. After i get back from the gym i also use this to cleanse my skin and i feel that it is deep cleaning my pores out. What drew me to this soap is that it is not heavily fragranced and it suggested for those with acne and sensitive skin.

Bottom Line: my skin improved after I stopped using it. I had been using Clinique bar soaps since I was a teenager, and specifically the Extra Mild for the last three or four years. And I was perfectly satisfied with it. Even though I still had issues with clogged pores, occasional breakouts, irritation at times- I blamed these issues on my lifelong problem skin. Now I see I didn't have problem skin, I had problem products! Clinique's Extra Mild Facial Soap is a very gentle and basic (not intended for makeup removal of course) complexion bar. But over time, it does strip the skin and throw things "off" which is inevitably going to lead to problems down the road. After being faithful to this cleanser for years and years, I switched to a foaming cleanser in a tube (Algenist Gentle Rejuvenating) and I was amazed at how quickly all my skin's issues disappeared. I'd always heard that bar soap isn't intended for the face, but for some reason I thought this was an exception "because it's Clinique". No. And on top of all that, this product's packaging is a huge drawback as well. If you're a regular user you start accumulating all these green soap cases in your house, it really can't be avoided. Even when you go out of your way to buy just the refill only, somehow these extra cases just make their way into your life anyway. Very annoying. And- it's not sanitary either. Who knows how many face-wrecking bacteria are inside the case with the bar of soap you're supposed to use on your FACE? This is a product that's been around forever, but there are newer and better options out there. Will not purchase again, have moved on.
