Tl;dr:
- Blendable formula.
- Shade 715 is a good contour tone for fair complexion.
- Multifunctional - makes a great liner, primer, one-shadow eye look.
- Works with fingers or dense brushes.
- You can get it to practice with liner/cream.
I have the shade Espresso (715) which is sadly the only matte shade available in my region. I love it and highly recommend you to try, even if you are not experienced with cream shadow. I suggest checking other matte shades to suit your complexion if you want to use it the way I describe.
715 is a great cool brown for a quick one-shadow look for fair skin. It is not too pigmented, has a natural tone and blends well. It has a fun mousse texture. The best way to apply for me is to stamp and blend with my pinky across the lid, then add more to the crease and optionally smudge along the outer lower lash line. It lasts great and stays in place. I like it so much that I started using it under powder shadows, so I just use a little of each and have more staying power.
The brush that comes with it has a nice shape and smart construction, but it doesn't pick the matte formula up at all. However, you can use a dense round brush like Elf Eye Contour brush if you want a precise blend, but better do it after placing pigment on the lid. I really like the finish when I apply a little eye primer, then lightly dust my lids with what's left on my powder brush when I do face makeup (before applying shadow). It's enough for it to set a little but still be blendable.
Bonus: It makes a great 'ghost' liner. It's not too dark on me to worry about the shape too much (you can clean up with cream eye shadow or non-translucent face powder if you need). I just flick a dense angled brush along the lashline, then out, and build up if I want. I can leave it as it is - it looks very natural with mascara, almost like the shadow of your lashes. I also sometimes use it as a guide for more complicated looks.
I'm very happy with this purchase because both formula and shade work for me on a daily basis. I'm excited to try shimmer shades.
