I bought this shampoo because I tried a sample I got in a magazine. Just so you understand, I have never been so impressed with a shampoo sample that I had to go and buy the product ASAP, ever. Most of the time, I think, "Well, that was nice, but nothing special that any other shampoo can't do." That's how amazing this product is to me. So, down to specifics. When I tried it the first time, I wasn't expecting any remarkable difference in my hair's shine. I have tried many products that claim to boost shine, with only marginal results, before realizing that my hair was already pretty shiny and that those products probably have an upper limit to how shiny they can make hair, so unless my hair was seriously dull to begin with I was never going to see that much difference. Let's just say my expectations were low, but my hair needed cleaning, and why waste a good sample? So, with low expectations, I proceeded to wash my hair. My first impression was that it lathered up beautifully, and had this pretty scent, like a really nice grown-up perfume, not all sugary but also not too heady either (if you are sensitive to fragrances, pass this one on by). I let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing it out. I towel-dried and detangled my hair as usual, and let it air dry. The scent lingered as it dried, which I enjoyed greatly, but I didn't realize until it was fully dry the full extent of what the shampoo had done to my hair. It was so very, very, SOFT. Like silk. Seriously. I had a really hard time keeping my hand off my locks. I consider my hair to be pretty soft to begin with, especially when it's freshly washed, so I didn't even realize my hair could be any softer, but apparently it can. As far as the shine factor is concerned, there were no surprises. My hair remains it's usual shiny self, and was not made noticeably shinier by using this product (I should say that I used no other styling products or treatments when I used this, just the shampoo). But for the softening effect alone, I consider this this a purchase well worth making, and don't even mind it not doing the thing it advertises (not for me, anyway; again, probably works better if your hair is actually dull to start with). And the smell that clung to my hair for about a day was a nice bonus, too. So if you're looking for a shampoo to turn your hair into silk, (and maybe gloss it up while you're at it) that smells amazing, then look no further. I will definitely be re-purchasing this when it runs out. It's just possible that this might just be my HG shampoo.
