I love the colour but hate the formula and really wish I had read some reviews before buying it... I've tried brushes, sponges, fingers and a number of different primers: no matter what I do/use it looks very patchy/streaky. Real pity as the colour is "just right." I've tried using it instead of an eye-shadow primer, as some reviewers suggested, but it doesn't work as well as a proper primer. I'm not sure what to do with it as it's unusable...

I wish I'd read reviews for this specific shade before I purchased it because it's probably my most hated eyeshadow ever. I thought all the Color Tattoo shadows had this problem, so I haven't purchased any more of them. Now that I've read some reviews, maybe I'll try a different one in the future. I won't write a lengthy review because the issues have already been covered by others. I've been trying to work with this one for months, and I just can't make it work no matter what I try. Brushes, my fingers, sponges, using it with or without a primer, layering, even adding alcohol to thin it out didn't help [EDIT: I forgot I also tried adding oil-free moisturizers to it. That helped a tiny bit, but only in softening the product. It still applied very patchy and streaky.] I use it now as a base for medium to dark plum or brown powder shadows, because it's so patchy. It just doesn't work on its own and I feel like I wasted my money buying it. I wish I'd saved the receipt and returned it. EDIT: The only thing I can say about this that is positive is how long it lasts. If this is anything like the rest of the products in this line, I would recommend buying some of the other shades just for the wear time. I swatched this on my hand one day while trying to find a way to get it to apply evenly, and then forgot to wash it off right away because something distracted me. A while later, when I noticed the patch, I decided to just leave it alone and see how it held up. I washed my hands many times and even did dishes twice before any serious fading happened. I know the skin on a hand isn't like eyelid skin, but that was still impressive to me.

The color is definitely nice, not as pigmented as I would like. The application is not smooth and patchy as hell as all the other revieweres mentioned. I thought of tossing this one in the trash cause I couldn't find how to use it before I figured out how to get even true-to-color application with of this: To achieve true to color and perfectly smooth application take color tattoo 93 Creme de Nude from the same range and use it as a base for the Vintage Plum to apply before. You can use 91 Creme de Rose as a base but then the color changes a bit. I am not sure if these colors are available in the US at the moment, but this is what I have come up with in Russia. Basically you can use any nude or light from the same collection to use as a base to smooth out the application for this specific color.

I picked this up a month or two ago. I love purples and so was really excited when I saw this dusty purple shade from the Leather Collection. It's an interesting shade...like a purple toned taupe...matte and kinda dark. I apply it with my fingers...it applies smoothly and evenly, despite the drier feeling formula, and is a fantastic base for dusty lilacs and mauves. I really like it for matte shadows, especially Coastal Scents's matte purples and mauves. It is nicely pigmented, long-lasting, and non-creasing. I could see this working great as a base under gray shadows, too. I would definitely repurchase as I feel like it's a pretty unique base shade and would work pretty well with a lot of different shadows.

I was very hesitant to buy this after reading reviews but kept finding myself drawn to it at the store. I'm glad I finally caved! It is a tad patchy but not as badly as I expected, and I haven't had trouble smoothing it out. I love using this as a base for purple/plum shadows, and I especially like being able to create a softer purple eye look by using neutral shadows on top (so that it is more work-appropriate). Very happy with this product!

Beautiful shade, horrible formula. As others have already noted, this is very patchy. I find it impossible to get a smooth layer no matter how I apply or prep. Disappointing since this is a great shade that works well with both my hazelish-brown eyes and my pale olive skin. Most shaded of purple either make me look like I have a black eye or make my skin look sallow. No comment on wear time, since I can't get a halfway decent application I've never worn it out of the house.

I agree with the other reviewers--this was so patchy even with a primer. I had high hopes since I have a few other Color Tattoos but I'm returning this one.

I like this color tattoo, but don't love it. It is a nice plummy taupe color and I was buying the Color Tattoo's Leather's so I got this one. It is patchy when swatched, BUT I use it over Nude Pink and it goes on smooth on my eye. It reminded me of something, so I pulled out Meet Matte Nude from theBalm and it looks like Matt Hung to me. I considered returning this, but I do like it well enough layered, and I only paid $4.00 for it. I have 30 color tattoo's and they can't all be the best. I also think purples are difficult in most types of shadows. The looks I've creeated from this do make me happy. The biggest reason I wouldn't repurchase has to do with having another color so close to this one, and I can't imagine I'll run out of this soon.
