I have this in Blond Cendre. Some comparisons: this is darker and browner than Laura Mercier's Blonde eyebrow pencil, which is very light and on the grayish taupe side, with a softer lead. It's darker and more pigmented than the Kevyn Aucoin pencil, though they are the closest, color-wise.

It blends in fairly well with my brows, which are thin and have fine black hairs, but altogether look more gray-ish than anything else. I hate having really dark brows, so I stay away from black since it makes me look mean, and dark brown since brown brow products tend to be too warm-toned (read: reddish). So I stick with neutral, ashy taupes, which I've found blend in the best and look the most natural.

The Chanel pencil is a lot more pigmented and darker than any of the other brow pencils I've tried. It has a rather hard lead, like the Kevyn Aucoin pencil, but puts down more pigment with each stroke. If I'm not careful about blending and using this lightly, it'll look too much like a dark brown on me (but not warm at all, thankfully). I don't much like the angled brush at the other end of the pencil. It isn't stiff enough for real precision in blending out the pencil, so I still use the little spoolie from my used-up KA pencil. The little angle brush can also make this look a little artificial if I'm not very careful about using the pencil really lightly and blending very gently.

You also have to sharpen this as well, which is a little annoying since you need a really good sharpener to get a fine point. I think the lasting power is decent, even on my combination skin. I don't have to touch it up during the workday, which is all I ask.

I think I prefer the KA pencil for everyday since the ultra-fine hard lead offers the best precision and control, and the LM pencil when I want a softer look. The Chanel pencil is best for evenings, I think, when my brows can be a little stronger (I don't wear much eye makeup during the day and strong brows look so weird on me if I don't). This pencil is very expensive, and this color is discontinued, but you can occasionally find a good deal on eBay. (It's funny, but I think with every new pencil I try, I am merely further convinced of the superiority of the KA pencil, though it's so pricey.)

LOVE this! I purchased this based on the reviews and I'm glad I did. This leaves my brows more natural looking than any other brow pencil I've used. I'm not much of a brow powder kind of girl so can't compare. I bought this in blonde cedre (sp?) due to the reviews and it looks very natural against my black brows. I can see how this can be a versatile color as it would work with various hair colors. The price is a bit steep but I will still run out and repurchase, afterall it does come with a complimentary sharpener =)

My review is for the oldskool Chanel Sculpte Sourcils Sculpting Brow Pencil in Blond Cendre. Which has been discontinued and is now very hard to find. However if you'd like to ignite some bidding wars with me, check Ebay. I was very fortunate to win this pencil not once but twice. Which was great because it took the place of every other brow product I owned and I was down to a nub in 7 months. This color looks too light for my dark brown nearly black brows to be of any help but wow! Amazing! With a pointy sharpened tip I've worked miracles with this pencil. Would repurchase especially if it were more accessible.

Not the best I have used. I got more natural looking results with Dior, Lancome,Yves Saint Laurent and even Rimmel brow pencils even Estee Lauder artist eye pencil thats not even actually for brows gets me to more natural looking results. It might be the color tho? I have it in brun whick is maroony kind of brun, not golden or soft. I have a red/orange hair now but I do not know why this still looks more wrong than using my Estee Lauders black!!! pencil that has an amazing sponge on the other end that works marvelously for foftening the brow lines. But this one looks totally drawn on. Maybe I cant just master it, maybe it is too soft. I do hate the brush in the end. It does not work for softening the line, Dior pencil has similar brush as this one, however I find that mascara brush type of brush works better for softening the eye brow pencils harsh lines. I am thinking really hard back time when I just started out with eye brow pencils and I cant think of so many bad ones, I always trusted the reviews. This is the worst one I have used by far. It looks so fake. Some talented people probably say now, "you just dont know how to use it. Well who wants to use complicated products if other brand offers easy to master products anyway!

This is the best eyebrow pencil I have ever used, and I will definately re-purchase. It is not too hard or too soft, it goes on creamy, but is hard enough that you need to "sketch" you brows in (which is the most natural way to do it anyway). It seems to set a little, then the little brush on the other end blends it naturally so that the look is sculpted but soft. The colour seems to darken with the brush also, I dont know why that is but it really does. I am half Asian with cool pale olive/yellow skin, dark brown hair and black brows, and I use Blond Clair, and found it to be perfect. It lightens my eyebrows a teeny bit (makes me look less intense and heavy), but with no redness at all. V.happy and well worth the price!

I kept trying to love this pencil in Cendre, but once I got it on, it morphed into a much darker shade that just looked like "Mommy Dearest" on me! Too harsh! So, since it's d/c'd anyway, I tried DHC pencil/powder combo in Soft Brown and voila! tres magnifique! Much softer color and doesn't morph. And way cheaper.

I think this is the perfect brown definition item: it has the texture of a powder, the easiness of a pencil and the combing/blending brush (!)amazing, is just so convenient. The concept of gathering a soft/powdery texture with a combing/blending brush is just great. Sharpen it frequently so the application is precise. Up-date: took a lippie off as sharpning this is a true nigthmare, it breaks easily as you do it, so the waste is huge

I love the color of Blond Cendre. It gives a natural color that you can keep applying and applying without making your brows look too heavy. With sufficient application, it tends to stay longer, much longer than other brands Also the brush comes in handy. However, due to my partial oily face, my eyes and brow areas tends to be oily and the brows would easily fade away after several hours. So for now, i usually use my long staying-eyeliner as my brow liner as well.
