This is a toner lotion part of a new line of botanical based creams. Kakonjuka means flower, root, tree, fruit in Japanese and it contains extracts of maitake mushroom, Platycarya strobilacea, great burnet, purslane, reishi mushroom and licorice. The licorice and purslane are soothers, the others are antioxidant and immune boosters.

The toner is slightly viscous and brown colored. This means you can pour out a small amount from the bottle (it has a small opening) and pat it on by hand. This is a method used by Dr. Hauschka for their toners and I find it better than application by cotton pad. I only use a half to one milliliter and pat it all over. It absorbs very quickly and leaves the skin soft. The lotion comes in a set with the essence (a cream in a pump with a lot of the botanicals) and the cream (in a jar) and you are supposed to layer these three. You can buy each individually, as well. I find if I use this as directed, my skin feels velvety soft afterwards, and this lasts all night --when I wake up, my skin feels great (I'm over sixty.) I can see using this all the time--more effective than the Olay that I had been buying. No fragrance, either. I'm quite impressed. I've used a lot of DHC products and this one is among the best series they've made.
