I have one descriptive word for this Essence product. Crapola. Literally. I bought the brown shade, as black is too harsh for my daily look...and I have never, (never, ever, ever) used a product this throughly horrid. It runs, no matter where I put it, top or bottom, it ends up under my eye, where I cannot remove it; and I'm left with nada on my lash lines. It also irritates my skin and eyes terribly, making them red and itchy. Essence has some real winners for an inexpensive line, and the much raved about gel liner is one of them...however, all their other liners, ESPECIALLY this one, suck Titmouse toes. Let's all be grateful it's limited edition...and pray they never bring it back in any form.

There was only one color where I bought mine, Big In Japan, so I can't speak for any others that might be out there. My overall would be more a 3 and 3/4 than 4.

Read everything on the packaging before considering buying this product. I didn't and I have some bad things to write about. I should always read packagings, I know.

The product stains the skin and contact lenses. The first time my lenses turned a pinkish/purple color, I had no idea what caused it. The second time, I knew it was the liner. The first time it stained, I didn't have any color in my eye but the second time, I did a little. Even though it's black, it stains pink/purple and black and the lenses were left with the pink/purple. It doesn't affect the vision but they won't be transparent anymore. And the second time I used the liner, it dripped and even though I was pretty fast in cleaning it off with a wet cloth, it left a small pinkish spot on the counter top and the cloth too.

As for the product itself, it's really amazing. True black and it's easy to work with and it stays for a long time with barely any smudging. When it's time to remove it, BE CAREFUL because you have to go back a few times to get it all off and depending what you use, the color will transfer to your fingers and stain your fingers. It goes off easy enough but still annoying.

The packaging is alright, it's two sided for a thin side and a thick side. The writing on the packaging starts to disappear after 2-3 uses. Since mine probably had too much liquid and dripped on the thin side, I have a dry pink coloration on the packaging under the cap but the brush/pen/felt is humid.

So, overall, if you have a perfect vision or you only wear glasses, this is kinda perfect. If you wear contact lenses, I don't really suggest getting this one. I'm sure there are other liquid liners that don't stain lenses on the market. For me, I will not be purchasing this again because I want to wear my contacts without staining all of them.

Hope this review will be helpful to people.
