This is perhaps the most high-quality eyeshadow palette that I have yet to come across, and certainly the best neutral palette for those with olive/tan skin or darker. (That is not to say that this palette won't work for lighter skin tones, but it would perhaps be best for nighttime looks). It contains four colors, all of which are buttery, perfectly blendable, and utterly fail proof in terms of color combination. The color pay-off is also impressive. All of the shades in this particular palette are on the warmer side, which is part of the reason why this palette works so well on my olive NC 35/40+ skin.

The palette contains the following: a medium yellow/goldish highlighting shade that is shot through with a bit of shimmer (no chunky glitter here or anywhere else in this palette; and I wouldn't describe any of these shades as frosty, either); a matte medium brown shade in the chestnut family; a darker brown with gold shimmer; and an even darker brown-black matte shade that's intended for use as a liner. Both the highlight and the liner shades come in slightly smaller pans, in keeping with their lesser usage. I have been using the three lighter shades for day, and plan on trying the darker liner as an addition for night.

In terms of packaging, Burberry's is the best on the luxury cosmetics market, in my opinion. Each palette comes in a very sturdy compact with a magnetic closure, a velvet pouch, and three small but very serviceable brushes for on-the-go application: a sponge, a blending brush, and an angled eyeliner brush. Everything, including the shadows and the outside of the gunmetal compact, is adorned with the lovely trademark Burberry check design.

If you can only afford to indulge in one luxury palette and are interested in investing in neutral shades, I would highly recommend this set of shadows, particularly if you are warm-toned. I find them superior in quality to comparable brands such as Chanel and Dior. They were my introduction to Burberry and have quickly become an everyday favorite. For someone who is fairer (and anyone simply looking for a slightly less dramatic look in the brown/neutral family, regardless of skin tone), I would recommend Mocha No. 2 (which works on me for a more subtle everyday eye), Pink Taupe No. 7, or Pale Nude No. 3.
