OH MY GOODNESS. One of my favorite polishes of all time. Photos of this polish don't do it justice. It is purple, then lilac, then gold. So iridescent, so pretty. Stayed on a long time for me with no chips (I use seche vite top coat). You need this nail polish.

Julep's Nail Vernis in Julia is one of the most beautiful, unique nail polishes I have ever seen. Julep is a salon brand that offers a large selection of "4 free nail lacquers, mani and pedi products, and a bit of makeup. What is 4 Free? A nail polish formulation that doesn't contain junk like formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, toluene, and DBP. Julep calls their formula "chip resistant, fast drying, and highly pigmented." Julep sent me Julia for free, as a gift, not as a PR Sample. Each Julep Nail Vernis is very small, containing only 8ml (.27fl oz), significantly smaller than your average nail polish. Julep polishes retail for $14, or $11.20 if you belong to their Julep Maven program. If you aren't familiar with the Maven program, it's a monthly subscription service, as well as a rewards program. Each monthly box sells for $19.99. Julep products can be bought through the brand's website, at Julep nail salons (all four are located in Washington state), and in a limited selection at Sephora. Julep products are cruelty free and made in America. I think I've raved about Julep's packaging in all my reviews. The polishes come in a tall, thin, rectangular glass bottle topped with a square black cap, The packaging looks expensive and elegant. The Julep logo graces the front of the bottle. Some company info can be found on the back of the bottle, and a full ingredient list on the side of the cap. The ingredient list is printed in nearly microscopic text. I wish Julep would put their ingredient lists on their website. I also wish they'd stop sloppily painting one side of the bottle, I still don't understand the point of that. These lacquer bottles are recyclable. Julep says that their brushes have "microflayed bristles". I'm not entirely sure what they mean by that, but I can gather a general idea. The brush has a long wand with long bristles that move together beautifully. The shape of the brush is thin and flat with a good amount of flex to it. Julia is part of two of Julep's collections, American Beauty, and the Winter Collection. I'm not certain if Julia is limited edition or not. I don't believe it is, I hope it isn't. This lacquer has a bit of a thinner formula than the other two Julep Vernis I've tried. Julia can be used in two ways. One coat goes on sheerly and can be used for layering, or you can add a second coat for full opacity. I prefer to wear Julia as a stand alone polish. Each coat goes on very smoothly and dries quickly. Each coat dries in about 30 seconds, and dries completely in under five minutes. I've had variable wear with previous Julep polishes, but I've worn Julia three times now, and it really delivers in the wear department. I get on average 3 days of wear from Julia before it begins to chip. Even after the first chip, I can still get another day or two of flawed wear from this polish. When it comes to removal, Julia is really easy to get off. Just one quick swipe of an acetone nail polish remover on a cotton round and this polish is gone!Julia is such a beautiful, unique, interesting color that is near impossible to photograph. Julep describes this shade as "purple orchid with golden micro glitter". In the bottle it kinda looks like it's just gold, so imagine my surprise when I swatched it on a nail wheel and saw a beautiful warm purple with so much reflective gold glitter. Julia has a strong gold duo chrome, and the shimmer has an also flaky look to it. This color has such amazing depth and visual interest. I fell in love with this color at first swatch and now I want to wear it all the time! I'm definitely wearing it to my work's Christmas party on Sunday, since it applies so quickly and is so eyecatchingly beautiful. I've been lemming Max Factor's Fantasy Fire and I think Julep's Julia may be the closest you can get here in the States (thought it certainly isn't a dupe). I really want to commend Julep for making a color like this! I love Julep's Julia Nail Vernis, it's by far the best shade I've tried from them. The color is such a fantastic purple with loads of gold shimmer. The lacquer wears well and isn't too hard to remove. Packaging is lovely, but it could be improved upon a bit. While I still think Julep Nail Vernis are ridiculously priced for the small amount that you get, but if you're willing to splurge on nail polish, grab Julep's Julia, it will stand out in any collection. Would I repurchase Julep's Julia? With the discount price..maybe! I can't thank Julep enough for sending me this beautiful polish!
