This has an impressive note list, but it really only smells like sour black currant, a little bit of sour pine, and soapy, dry, sour aldehydes. All of that sourness smells very unpleasant on my skin and, in the drydown, also smells like a hint of onions for some reason. For similar fragrances (dark berries and pine forests) done a lot better, Olympic Orchid's Blackbird, Serge Lutens' Fille en Aiguilles, and Erik Kormann's Eau de Frohliche No 3 are all wonderful, complex, wearable takes on the genre. Enchanted Forest is just sour and flat on my skin."Pink pepper, aldehydes, sweet orange, flower cassis, blackcurrant leaf, hawthorn, effects of rum and wine, rosemary, davana, blackcurrant buds absolute, CO2 blackcurrant, Russian coriander seed, honeysuckle, rose, carnation, vetiverm, opoponax, Siam benzoin, amber, oakmoss, fir balsam absolute, patchouli, castoreum, cedar notes, vanilla, musk."

Oh, what a fabulous initial blast! But before long, this distinctive scent becomes too close to the skin and I can't smell it. I loved the first few minutes as it reminded me of elderberry wine. I didn't get a lot of forest (not soil, or greenery) just dark berries. (Berries which have been made into liquor by what we Southerners used to call a Moonshiner.) When I need my fix of fermented fruit, I'll wear Balenciaga Rumba, which fascinates me for a full twelve hours. This Enchanted Forest lasts about twelve minutes.

I would have loved to love Enchanted Forest, but it was not to be. After the promising top notes of realistic blackcurrant and very lovely trees and undergrowth, things took a bad turn and I ended up with I can only describe as stale cookies filled with artificial blackcurrant essence cream.

I dislike the top notes (they don't last long anyway), but the rest of it is wonderful. I do get a forest feel from this. The sillage and longevity could be better in my opinion, but this is a very unique, intriguing scent. Warm, woodsy, spicy, and interesting! I consider it somewhat masculine but feel comfortable wearing it.

A new house by Bertrand Duchaufour, for those of you who know names. The fragrance Enchanted Forest was just released in 2012.Listed notes: pink pepper, aldehydes, sweet orange, flower cassis, blackcurrant leaf, hawthorn, effects of rum and wine, rosemary, davana, blackcurrant buds absolute, Russian coriander seed, honeysuckle, rose, carnation, vetiver, opoponax resinoid, Siam benzoin, amber, oakmoss, fir balsam absolute, Patchouli, castoreum absolute, cedar notes, vanilla, musk.Yeah, it's a lot of notes, but the overall effect is much more simple than would first appear. Out of the vial, the scent is strong and a little off-putting. I thought it would be too masculine and too harsh, but as soon as it hits skin, the lovely bitter purple of black currant blooms with green notes and a suggestion of forest loam. This settles to a boozy spice feeling and finally arrives at a gorgeous spiced amber with a touch of spiky carnation and rose to underline the spices and still a reminder of that dark black currant. A wonderful journey to take in winter and I'm enjoying it very much.
