This polish is absolutely gorgeous but...it flakes off practically as soon as it dries! I've tried various base coats and top coats with the same results. Ironically, it is difficult to remove with nail polish remover - even more than other glitter polishes I've tried. I tried hard to make this polish work for me but no success. Unfortunate because it is really pretty.

I'm a huge fan of Butter London... in fact it's a little bit problematic for my wallet. But their colours are soo fantastic I can never find one to compare! – and trust me, I've tried. It's a microglitter polish. Glitter polishes are always tricky, no matter the brand. They flake off and the bits that don't flake off by themselves are impossible to remove. They tend to dry faster than other polishes and get a bit goopy. And of course they eat top coat. Thank god for the jelly sandwich technique! If you're really into nail polish and particularly microglitters, get a gel system. I can't fault Butter for the trouble with microglitter since it's no different than with an OPI or China Glaze glitter, but it would be nice if, at the higher price point, they figured out a way to make it more agreeable. Nevertheless this colour is just too fantastic to complain; a dark grey with stunning sparkle. Grey nails are in this season and I maintain that without some glitter or metallic sheen, your hands will look dead, so Gobsmacked is perfect!!!

I adore Milani 'Silver Dazzle' & have 4 bottles of it for backup...I hoard it in case it gets discontinued & disappears from store shelves (story of my life)....so I was curious to see how BL Gobsmacked compares to Silver Dazzle as an alternative option....but now I wish I didn't. You can save $15 by frankening your own custom-made Gobsmacked at home - in a 3/4-full bottle of Milani Silver Dazzle add some clear polish (to dilute the thick glitter density somewhat, as Gobsmacked is sheerer in density & needs to be applied in layers, whereas Silver Dazzle is pretty much a 1-coat formula), then add some black polish to darken the silver glitter base. Voila, homemade Gobsmacked dupe on a budget. Gobsmacked has beautiful sparkle, to be sure, but on me it looks way too close to Silver Dazzle or (worse yet) too similar to China Glaze 'Haunting' or Milani 'Charmed' (both of which I own), that I wish I could return Gobsmacked for a refund & save the expense. But now that I'm stuck with it, I'll use it up & won't have to buy it again. It's lovely but not quite unique.

Love this polish. It looks like asphalt on my nails, really unusual. It certainly has a grainy texture but that obviously means application issues don't show!I know there have been some complaints about it chipping easily but that's not been my experience. I can get 4-5 days of wear out of Gobsmacked. That said, it does indeed eat topcoat.

I am so ambivalent about this polish. It is absolutely, drop dead gorgeous in the bottle. I have rarely been so "gobsmacked" by a polish in the bottle. You simply have to see all this beautiful silver, grey, micro glitter swimming in the base in person to be bedazzled appropriately.Application is difficult. All that microglitter makes this one really difficult to apply, and like most BL polishes it dries quickly, but there is less polish base, so it comes down to laying down layers of microglitter with some savvy. Ugh.Dry down is odd. BL describes this as a "textured" polish (read: all that microglitter means you are not going to get a smooth top with this one), and one blogger has the best description of it that can be said, "diamonds in asphalt" (not my description, but pretty brilliant).Diamonds in asphalt. Yep. The texture is like asphalt, the over all effect is like asphalt, kinda thick and textured, and then there is all that amazing microglitter that just breaks the whole thing up. This one is really edgy and fun and ..... well, just think of diamonds in asphalt, not your usual polish, so, yeah, it is really special. But here's my biggest gripe, well, two. Like BL's other holiday polish that I totally love, "Scuppered" (see my reviews if interested), all that microglitter makes this one chip off in places, in a very short time. Really short time. Pieces just pop off.The rest is like asphalt. Getting this one off is nearly impossible. I wasted so much polish remover (Lippmann's "The Stripper") to get back to my nails, I was appalled. I don't begrudge paying for quality products. But "The Stripper" is 18 bucks a bottle and usually works like magic. Not on this one.*IF* this one didn't chip in places, the tradeoff would be worth it. So different, so edgy, so much fun to see "diamonds in asphalt" on my fingertips. But I want a well paved road for longer than 36 hours *IF* I am going to spend 3 bucks on polish remover and 15 minutes of my day to get the road (i.e., my nails) up for driving again. This bottle will probably mostly unused, as the time and product necessary for removal aren't worth the short lived trade-off.Heartbreaking. Because it promises to be so much fun and it's really just too annoying for too little tradeoff ..... ETA: I will play around by layering this over a basic black polish, and see if layering it makes removal easier. However, I cannot recommend this as something to apply simply over a base-coat. Also, I think the overall effect of this one is best without top coat. However, if you want to apply top coat, be forewarned this one is a major top coat eater ...... two coats, no question.ETA2: Pure acetone removes this rather well. So, I have found a way to remove it in under 15 minutes. However, I get less than 24 hours wear time with this one, no matter what. Great for a special night out. Not for day wear. HTH
