In Europe this product is called OIL-FREE OXYGENATING GEL CREAM.My skin tends to get oily when I don't use the right products, and this one made my skin incredibly oily, which lasted for days after using. When I saw the ingredients I realised why: alcohol, orange, fragrances. Maybe more, but I don't recognise all of the names. I got this as a tester from a saleswoman who claimed Philosophy is the new it-brand in the Netherlands. Her enthusiasm was almost scary. She actually sold me the Philosophy micro delivery, which I'm also going to throw away. I have more testers from this brand, but I might not even bother trying.Be warned: Philosophy is not for people with an acne-prone, oily and sensitive skin.

I only apply this at night because during the day I prefer something with SPF. It smells great and it feels very hydrating on my face. It leaves my skin feeling really soft and smooth, even my husband loves this stuff. The only thing that concerns me is the long ingredient list. I have acne prone skin and it has not broken me out. I will continue to use this.

Got a sample with my Sephora order. Don't like it. Hate the fragrance. There are much better oil free light moisturizers out there that's much more economical. Ouch~ just went on Sephora to check out the price, $49 for this jar? Woh!! look it the long ingredient list of chemicals! No way! My current favourite light moisturizer is Green Beaver Aloe Day Cream

I have very oily skin that is clog-prone and breaks out easily. Despite this, my skin is still in need of moisture. All lotion based moisturizers cause my skin to become super oily and to break out. My skin tends to respond better to gel based moisturizers. As many people have had success using Philosophy products, I decided to give their Take a Deep Breath gel cream moisturizer a try.First off, Take a Deep Breath gel cream moisturizer is not sold in stores in Canada (at least nowhere that I was able to find it). This includes Philosophy counters in department stores (e.g. The Bay). As a result, I had to purchase it online. I purchased the jar version of the moisturizer, which contains no SPF. For your reference, the squeeze tube version of the Take a Deep Breath gel cream moisturizer contains SPF, while the jar version does not. Take a Deep Breath gel cream moisturizer has a light, whipped-like consistency. It has an unusual scent that is hard to describe (reminds me a little bit of mothballs). The products is a pale aqua green colour, and it feels cool to the touch. Upon touching it, there is no mistaking that it is a gel moisturizer. When applied, it absorbs into dry areas of the skin rather quickly, and it feels cool and refreshing. The scent dissipates upon application. The product did an okay job moisturizing (I did not get baby soft skin as a result of using it, but my skin did feel reasonably hydrated). However, in the areas where I get super oily (i.e. my nose, my chin) the product never completely sunk in. Instead, it kind of sat on top of the skin, regardless of how much I tried to rub it in and despite how little I used. I also found that it made my skin super oily (even more oily than usual). For example, if I ran a hand or my fingers over a small area of my face a few hours after applying the moisturizer, it/they would be saturated with oil. Although this product caused me to become excessively oily, I will say that it did not aggravate my skin in any other way. For example, it did not cause me to break out and it did not irritate my skin; it just caused me to become super oily. Given that the vast majority of moisturizers break me out, I was impressed that the product caused me no reaction; however, I could not overcome the super-duper oily results. For this reason, I will not be repurchasing it. My opinion: this is not a bad product, but perhaps just not for everyone. It is marketed for oily skin, but from my experience, it may not be the best option for those who are excessively oily, like me.

This is a great moisturizer, my go-to in the summer. It's very lightweight and is perfect to wear under makeup. My skin is super sensitive and it didn't break me out (a rarity). However, I would only recommend this to those who have oily skin because I imagine the formula would be drying if you don't. It can be a little drying on me and my skin is extremely oily!

i love this moisturizer. i have oily-acne prone skin, and this moisturizer doesnt break me out or make me oily. it sinks into my skin and keeps me hydrating without over doing it. butt i recently stopped buying it because a review from paulas choice beautypedia scared me. it stated that this moisturizer actually causes skin to age faster because of the oxygen ingredient it contains. i have tried researching about it and so far havent found anything that finds this true.... soooo since i cant find any other moisturizer to my liking, i am going to go back to this one :).. if u have very sensitive, oily, acne prone skin, i definitely recommend this.

I like the texture and lightweight feel of this moisturizer. That's really the draw for me. Because I have combination skin, I pat an additional moisturizer over the drier areas of my face. This works out OK. That said, for the money I don't think I'm getting something extraordinary. At the end of the day this is nothing more than a decent lightweight moisturizer. I have not noticed a change in skin tone, breakouts, skin texture, or anything else while using this.

I've bought this two or three times now. I rotate between this and HIAJ but prefer this one. This clears up my acne, feels great going on, and soaks right in. Absolutely HG

I think there are 2 versions of this gel moisturizer, one with SPF and one without. I am using the whipped gel without SPF that comes in a jar versus a tube. I had been experiencing some hormonal breakouts that were exasperated by dry, wind burnt skin that caused my skin to over-produce oil in compensation and made the cystic breakout stay inflamed. It seemed like I would never get it all under control and even my favorite products were failing me with this issue. I took to puncturing Alleve gel caps and smearing them on the cysts which helped tremendously with the inflammation and Visine helped with the redness but the cysts would not dry out and my skin was so oily. Finally in desperation I purchased a gentle cleanser for acne prone skin but first washed my face with Philosophy Purity Made Simple with my Clairsonic, to remove all traces of makeup. After using the acne cleanser I would wait about 20 minutes and then apply Take a Deep Breath gel moisturizer. It hydrated my skin without any greasiness and kept my skin hydrated for 10-12 hours. The acne cleanser dried out the cysts and this moisturizer kept my face nicely hydrated and balanced. I have continued to use it as my summer moisturizer, it is light in texture and my skin drinks it in and stays plumped and hydrated.I have stayed away from the other version due to the chemical SPF and how my skin reacts to anything but mineral sunblock. If not for this weird sensitivity I would totally use it and eliminate the need for using a separate SPF. Those reviewers that complained of breaking out might want to try the non-SPF version, they may have developed the same type of sensitivity to chemical sunblock that I developed over time.

This moisturizer is very hydrating, fast absorbing and leaves my skin so soft! I find that it's better suited to summer as opposed to winter. I used it all of last winter and found myself having to apply a lot more then I would have in the Summer, and since it's not an inexpensive product that's not the best of ideas. I use Hope in a Jar for the Winter, but this is awesome for warmer weather!
