Powdery at first but very overwhelming and strong after it settles, ever present. Unfortunately doesn't suit my skin.

L' Interdit -- Forbidden. This review is for L'Interdit II EdT.

Top Notes: Strawberry.

Heart Notes: Bulgarian Rose, Jasmine, Freesia, Violet, Sunflower, Ylang-Ylang.

Base Notes: Musk, Sandalwood, Incense.

I recently purchased a bottle of this in what I believe is the newer formulation, a 3 2/3 oz EdT in the tall bottle with a metal cap that …

The original l'Interdit was a wonderful classicly elegant scent. The "reworked" scent is a cheap trashy smelling scent which smell like a "just like" or "our version of" scent which you can get at a $ store for $5.95 (full price).
WHY did Givenchy hang the name of a beautiful classic scent on this cheap imposter? They are not even close to being the same.

I never had the privilege of sampling the original, only a decant of the reformulation. The top notes are a beautiful blend of strawberry, currant, and rose, and after that it transforms into the scent of dried wheatgrass, with a touch of pepper and musk. Toward the very end, it morphs into a clean, soapy smell that I like.

The grassy, musky aspect doesn't quite work …

Classy, powdery, spicy floral. My review is for the Mystiques version and I have to say that this fragrance is beautiful. I have not smelled neither the original nor the reformulation but I think I'll have to track both down to see how they compare. In the meantime, I think I need a bottle of L'Interdit for fall.
Edit: Aug 19, 2009: I got a chance to smell the 2002 version of …

Oh for heavens sake, who is Givenchy trying to fool? This smells like L'Interdit for about one minute, then it floats into a generic white musk fragrance. I wouldn't call it milky, it's just cheap white musk, somewhere between Musc Clair and Jovan White Musk. This is nothing like the original L'Interdit. Sorry, but Audrey wouldn't have be caught dead in this stuff.

Very pretty! The card for it says it has red current, Bulgarian Rose and a touch of musk and incense. The rose is not soapy or overbearing; nice blending here. It smells fresh. Apparently there are woods and grasses in here too. I like it!

I am reviewing the original parfum and NOT the current reformulation that bears absolutely no resemblance other than the name. The original parfum came in a read silk-covered box and the perfume was ultra-feminine, intimate, and ethereal. It melted into my skin and created an aura of uber-femininity that I have not been able to experience with any other perfume. Men always commented on how I -not …Read more

It was the new version I tried. It started out nice enough, spicey with some incense, but quickly turned to a rancid cheap smelling floral. It disappears fast with my chemistry too. From what I've read, this version is nothing like the original.

I'm not a Hepburn fan, and actually was a little put-off by the idea of trying her signature scent, so the fact that I fell in love with it despite my misgivings is praise indeed. The reason I love it so is because it's one of those frags that plays with mood and mind, not merely one's nose. For me, L'interdit's character is arch and cerebral, a little bit sarcastic, a …Read more
