It is insane how much I love this lip stain, and I can't wait to go back and buy a few more colors (I originally bought 203) to work into my every day wear, even though my wallet will cry a little. Yes, they are expensive, but I think they're worth it. I've tried a lot of lip stains, and this is the only one I've found that lasts forever without drying out my lips, blotching, or bleeding out of line. 203, the color I got, is an absolutely gorgeous petal pink/slight coral. I wasn't expecting much when the employee recommended it and swatched it on her hand, but after she insisted I try it on before writing it off, I fell in love! The color can be subtle or built up, and one layer of 203 for me gives me a really nice "your lips but better" evening out of my natural color, along with a nice sheen that doesn't fade for hours...unless I'm eating something liquid/oil heavy like soup or fried food. However, even then the color lasts for 5-6 hours without any reapplications, even after I downed a huge bowl of pho. Pretty impressive. I like the applicator, which is flat with a pointed tip for more precision than you normally get with wands. My only gripe is that it smells strongly of alcohol when you first remove the applicator wand from the tube. After I put it on, I don't notice it, so I assume it fades. It would be nice if it had a more pleasant scent, but I'll sacrifice it for the quality of the product. I'm on the hype train, sorry. This is an HG item for me- I can't stop admiring my lips when I catch my reflection. Highly recommend.

I saw these on a Buzzfeed post and like a complete sheep I went out and bought three. I am always looking out for that perfect lipstick/gloss that doesn't wear off too quickly and is the perfect colour. While I like these, they are not those things.I bought a browny-nude with a purple overtone; a peachy colour, and a light pink. The nude is not the perfect nude for me; I like it, but it's too dark. It also doesn't last as long as something I was sold as a stain should, although it wears kind of nicely. The purple sheen is kind of metallic and more evident if you layer a few times. The peach is nice but it wears bright orange on me and therefore I don't tend to use it. Shame, because peach is so nice at this time of year! The pink is my favourite - which is odd because I picked this one up on a complete whim and then didn't try it past the first day when it looked awful. I think maybe my lips were dry? Anyway, I decided to give it another go, and surprisingly, it gives a lovely petal pink which doesn't dry down fluorescent on me like most long wear pinks. Overall the packaging is good but for £26 each, I expected more. I'd only consider rebuying the pink and then I'd have to think long and hard because I'm sure I could get something similar. So these are a no from me.

I have #109 Fuschia Fugitive, which I think is now discontinued. That's a shame, because it's a gorgeous color. It starts off soft pink with a gold shimmer, eventually fading into a bright, warm pink. The formula is thin and surprisingly non-drying, maybe even slightly moisturizing, and the color is versatile. The gloss part lasts me 3-6 hours (depending on what I'm doing), and the stain lasts most of the day. There is a strong, sweet rose scent that lingers after apllication, but I actually like it. I'm not a gloss person at all but I would absolutely repurchase this! It's so unique and I love that it's effectively two colors in one, at least for some of the shades.

I got the shade 202 which is a warm orangey-red on a whim, as I am never brave enough to buy bright colours that come with a hefty price tag. YSL always manage to catch one's eye especially with their gorgeous packaging and the air of decadence that comes with the luxury brand. I chose this colour for the upcoming spring/summer months and because it would flatter my skintone. I've been unable to stop wearing it lately, as it's just so pretty and comfortable on the lips. The stain applies with an almost gel-like consistency, is a sheer wash of colour that can easily be built up. Just let each layer dry a bit before you add another. 2-3 layers are usually enough for me, and they 'dry' into a glossy, slightly tacky finish. The stain is very light however and feels very comfortable. The shine lasts a solid 5 hours (on me- could vary on others) and it does not transfer or come off on the glass when I drink water, or when have a small snack. That being said, I wore it during dinner once and it lasted perfectly. I barely have to reapply it, and it gives a mild orangey stain to my lips once faded. I absolutely love this lip stain, and will definitely be purchasing more (more neutral) shades and I'm in love with the beautiful packaging as well as the product.

I have this in #30 Mauve Fusain which is a bright lavender/plum. It goes on so smoothly and although it is slightly sticky the stickiness wears off in a few minutes and I am left with a nice sheer bright color that last 4 hours even with drinking coffee. The stain left behind lasts all day. This is a great winter lip product because it adds moisture and color without bleeding into fine lines around the mouth. I use Urban Decay Ultimate Ozone pencil all around the edges of my lips but not on the lips and I have never had any trouble with the color from the YSL Glossy Stain migrating. There is nothing like this on the market, it is unique. The L'Oreal Color Caresse Shine Stain was similar but did not give as much color/stain or moisture. Sadly the L'Oreal product has been discontinued so this YSL product truly is one of a kind. The price is steep but it does exactly what it says it will do.

Prune Minimale 22 rouge pur couture glossy stain by YSL. Pretty packaging. Weird sponge applicator. Was looking for a nice stain that wouldn't dry out like the stila one I had tried previous. Wore black lipstick with success recently, was hoping to find something 'vampy' and winter- without being garish and too 'halloween'I'm not really into the application of it. It doesn't apply smoothly for me, it may just be this deep color? I apply one coat and wait to apply another coat. It sort of congeals together in certain locations. Does not apply evenly. I despise the shape, the foaminess.. Everything about this applicator. It seems so cheap and counter intuitive in my opinion I will be trying to apply with a lip brush to see if I get more success. This IS nice if you use it as a barely there stain. I apply it very very very sparingly (like a dab) blend super quick with your finger and add chapstick on top and it's a nice just bitten color for the day..Still... Not quite what I was looking for. Purchased a red color for my best friend. I'll compare to see if I got a bad tube or maybe it was just this color prune minimale 22

I waited a long time after all the hype before getting my first glossy stain, and I understand what all the fuss is about. It has a really unique gel texture which is very comfortable on the lips, and the color truly lasts. The finish is gel like too in that there's colour, but there's still some translucency there so it has a very modern finish. Its easy to apply like a gloss and it wears really well. It starts off glossy, but as the glossiness disappears, you're left with a lovely stain so you don't have to worry if you don't have time to reapply. Therein lies part of the problem for me personally. Since my lips look nice anyway, I tend to postpone reapplying and so my lips get dry (my lips are prone to dryness and flakiness). Even then, I don't find the formula very moisturizing anyway. But, I still really love it. Its really a lovely product and I would definitely repurchase!

I have 4 of these stains - #11, #15, #27 and the new #203. I love them. Easily my favourite lippy formula because of its staying powder. It lasts through coffees, breakfast, water and lunch! Amazing. Perfect for a lazy girl like me. It feels a little odd on the lips to start with - tacky and sticky but the feeling wears off as the glossy shine disappears and leaves a lovely stain. Worth every penny and will definitely be adding more to my collection.

Worth the price. I got mine in shade Coral Alla Prima (31), it's a reddish coral. The color will bring warmth and freshness for warm medium skintone. Since this is a hybrid of gloss and stain, you can't expect a pigmentation of a high-coverage lipstick. However, you can always build the intensity that will leave you with jelly-like glossy lips. I used to apply them and immediately rubbed my lips together repeatedly (for no reason?). Once I read somewhere that it is best to leave them for a few minutes, I find it stays way longer - even the glossiness - even after drinking and smoking. It is very moisturising and the gloss doesn't feel sticky at all. Once the gloss disappears gradually, the stain is left for hours. Beautiful, sleek and classy packaging, as expected from YSL. It has a synthetic fresh floral scent, I personally don't find it annoying. I got no complain at all.

This is a review of the new Pop Water collection of glossy stains, with a little comparison compared to the original. I loved the original, except the fact that they were very drying on me, especially if I wear them for consecutive days. The new Pop Water version is much much better. The colours are amazing, they are very summer appropriate bright colours, each with a watery shiny finish without shimmer or crazy plastic shine. They are much more creamier now than before, and feels more like a liquid lipstick on the lips, whereas the original felt like a thin layer of plastic on the lips. They remove better too, and similar to the original, they leave a nice stain behind. I have the colours 206 Misty Pink and 207 Juicy Peach, both are very pigment, super smooth, and very hydrating. They also last all day as expected. I will post a video review of these, which include hand and lip swatches. If you are only interested in seeing the swatches, they are at 5:40. Hope this helps! :)
