NYC pencil is basically worthless as an eyeliner. I do not use eyebrow shading so I don't know about its function for that purpose. Somehow it happened that I couldn't find a single brown eyeliner pencil in the store that I had gone to except the NYC in Sable and soft brown, so I bought them both. Now I know why it was the only eyeliner in stock, it's terrible. The pencil is incredibly hard, pulls badly and leaves very little color even after multiple applications. It is THE WORST eye pencil I have ever used. I hate to waste a brand new product so I'm trying to come up with a purpose for them. Save your $1, total junk.

Did not like this pencil at all. I got the pencil in black. It was very hard, not creamy at all. It tugged and pulled at my eye. It didnt last on my waterline, within an hour it was gone. It faded on my top line. The only good thing about this product was that it was cheap and it came with alot of it but the product was a big miss. I will not be repurchasing.

This review is for the NYC pencil in Taupe. This is my everyday, go-to eyebrow pencil. It retails for somewhere between $1-$1.99, which is crazy cheap. This pencil is going to last forever; it's sharpen-able, not like those "pencils" where it's just product for a centimeter on top with essentially a big plastic handle below (very little actual product). This product sketches in my sparse, faint blond brows perfectly. WITHOUT A HINT OF RED, thank you. The color does not budge. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this pencil to anyone with a pale hair/skin complexion.

Saw these at target for 97 cents and decided to try it. I bought the color 922 dark brown for my brows. I use a combination of powder and pencil to fill my brows in (they are so thin from over tweezing). They work pretty good! I used to use spiked by mac but its pricey. I use this pencil to outline the lower and end of my brows and then fill in the rest with powder. I know a girl who uses only the pencil for her brows and they look great. I also bought the black to use as eyeliner it works good too. Smooth application. Glad I decided to try these. I guess a lot of people are starting to use these because they are often out of stock at my local target. I always stock up. For a dollar its worth a try.

Great product. It wont allow me to use it on my eyes as an eyeliner but that's fine because i bought this because i wanted to use it as an eyebrow filler. Insanely dark black but if you know how to use it, it'll turn out well and you wont be disappointed. For future buyers, I suggest drawing a line inside your eyebrows with the liner and then smudge it until it spreads all around your eyebrows. So you can get a dark grey. In photos, it'll look a reasonable black.I bought this in Jet Black cause I didn't find a charcoal but I don't care. So yeah. Got it for 99 cents and it's so awesome. THANK YOU NYC. YOU RULED THE WORLD AGAIN.

Being a blonde with brown eyes, it's hard to match my skimpy eyebrows with a soft color that's not too orange or an off-key shade of brown. I bought one each of Wet 'n Wild and NYC's charcoal, which I gently dab on (since it doubles as an eyeliner, too, so easy does it), then blend in with Maybelline's blonde pencil or brow powder. Works good! The blonde mixed with W&W (or NYC's) charcoal turns into a soft ash brown shade that's perfect for my light coloring and doesn't leave me with a Cruella DeVille look. With my fair Anglo-Saxon skin, it's a match!BTW, I was thrilled to find that if I wash the eyebrow powder brushes with a gentle shampoo, they're as good as new - any waxy and/or oily residue is gone. No need to spend 10 bucks on a new eyebrow or blusher brush! Ditto for other makeup brushes. I've had some for years, and after I wash them, they come out soft, clean, and smellin' good.
