A total surprise find and to date my all time favorite berry. For reference, I am neutral-cool toned NW15 with very pigmented lips. The older I get the more challenging it gets for me to wear deeper shades of lip color. As much as I like them, I sadly find darker lipsticks can be very aging on me. Furthermore, because my lips are quite red to begin with, lipstick shades often look good when first applied and then their color quickly turns into a different direction than what I intended. Nocturnal is a beautiful, deep neutral-cool berry shade, with the slightest hint of brown, it's not aging, and its staying power is quite good as long as I don't eat, which is true for all lipsticks I own. There is no strong scent or taste to these lipsticks which I like. Before applying lipstick I always dab a bit of lip balm underneath, with that said I don't think this formula is particularly drying. The study packaging is genius and elegant in dark metallic bronze, with a magnetic closure for the cap. I already own a number of Hourglass velvet creme lipsticks (Peace, Grace, Icon, Whisper) and I love them all. It's amazing how wearable these shades are. At $30 it is certainly a splurge, but I appreciate the refill option which at $24 is slightly less. In my view this is one of the best lipsticks on the market, up there with Tom Ford which is another favorite of mine, and I will repurchase this shade.

Love. And thats a lot coming from me. I struggle with lipsticks. I love the look of them but usually on other people. My lips are highly pigmented on their own, so shades often go funny on me. And I have kinda full, dry-prone lips. so colors tend to sink in and and highlight the dryness. But not this color. I add it to the center of my mouth and bleed it out with my ring finger. Looks like a gorgeous plum stain. It also looks great in photos. Pretty good staying power, but I tend to reapply a lot because I love the color. One thing I've found with other lipsticks is the 2nd application isn't as good. But I don't have that problem with this. I use By Terry Dolce Plum liner with it. And if my lips are dry, I'll apply Clinique Richer Raisin Chubby Stick over it to bring back the color after eating. Love, love, love this lipstick. Hourglass is a great brand. I sampled Icon lipstick today in Sephora and think I'm going to purchase that too.

Packaging: It's very dense and feels like you're holding a magnet. Very sturdy, but not bulky.Color: It's a medium/deep pink/plum. Neutral/cool.Application: Smooth, creamy, opaque, and even. I removed 1 lipstick because I wasn't crazy about the chiseled shape of the lipstick, but that's more due to my personal tastes and application habits.Wear: Does not budge unless you eat something greasy. All in all, highly recommended. This is one of the highest quality lipsticks I've used. Refill cartridges are available.
