I haven't used Mary Kay's foundations before. I've been mildly interested in trying a few, but I haven't gotten around to it. I heard about the new TimeWise foundations that were released about 3 months ago and I'll be trying the Matte version in the near future (and of course, adding a review for that). So a quick PSA. Mary Kay discontinued their Full Coverage foundation & supposedly, TimeWise Luminous is supposed to be its replacement. From the pictures I've seen, TW Luminous is NOT full coverage at all; those two foundations are similar in the sense that they are more suited for dry skin. The Medium Coverage foundation will remain in the lineup for a while, but Mary Kay is also decreasing its production (therefore, I'm guessing it may be discontinued at a later date). So for now, TW Matte is supposedly an alternative to Medium Coverage.I am writing this review because Mary Kay has changed their shade numbering system. From my understanding, the foundations used to be numbered by depth (from 1 to 8, 1 being the lightest and 8 being the darkest; 1&2 = Ivory, 3&4 = Beige, and 5-8 = Bronze) and undertones (0 = yellow, 2 = olive, 4 = pink, 5 = very pink, 7 = golden orange, and 8 = warm brown. 7 and 8 are only available for the "bronze" depths). Supposedly, the company went through a reform because they felt the system was "confusing and vague." IMHO, their old system was as organized and intuitive as it gets. They definitely trippin'. Haha. The new shade system for the TimeWise foundations isn't confusing, per se, but it doesn't follow a pattern like the old one does. The good news is, the new shades seem to match more than one old shade (i.e. the new Beige 1 matches the old Ivory 202 and Beige 300). So it seems like you could get away with more than one shade in this line. The range is also pretty decent with 23 shades. I feel for those who have "hard to match" skin (I do too). Fortunately, I've found that the shades are inherently neutral but have a reasonable amount of yellow or pink depending on which shade you're focusing on. There is no need to worry about having a bubblegum or street sign colored face with this foundation. After doing a lot of research (yup, I do TONSSS of research before buying my foundations haha), I've decided to post 2 shade conversion charts that I found online. I hope this helps anyone who is interested in trying out the foundation.I had sampled a couple 'olive' shades and wanted to share what MK deems olive, since olive means differently across makeup brands. IME, MK's interpretation of olive is very yellow. Not lemon yellow but yellow with a slight orange-beige tone, if that makes any sense. Definitely not as much green tones as I thought an olive shade usually is.For what it's worth, I tried Beige 2 and it seems to be a TINY bit dark (I'm NC30, but my neck is probably around NC20-25. I try to match foundations closely to my neck). I can get away with Beige 3 also. It's on the neutral side, even though it's listed as a pink-undertoned foundation. Beige 1 blended with my neck, I felt that it washed me out. So Beige 2 is the best match for me.If you've tried this foundation and know your MAC shade, please post here!! I'm sure this will help others greatly, since this is a fairly new foundation. :)
