Gorgeous colour. Is a purple that sparkles with multi-coloured reflects. Sounds garish but really isn't ...somehow it works. Will try and upload a swatch that does it justice but the lighting isn't great at the moment.Edit: Have uploaded two pictures (above) of this swatched next to Chanel Illusiore. While they are similiar, the pictures don't pick up that Black Velvet is more purple on a black base. Not sure I could really justify both though!

Oh I LOVE this eyeshadow! I searched high and low for it and finally found it at Macy's! This eyeshadow is so smooth and blends beautifully! You do have to pat it on with a stiff brush and then blend. I love the color and the sparkles. I get a lot of complements when I wear this :)

I love love love this eyeshadow. I have this one and the black one and love them both equally. This is great for a very subtle smoky eye with glitter. Love the multidementional glitter that's in this. It's best used with pencil or smudge brush. It's very pigmented and there's minimal to no fall out.If you can still find this eyeshadow, i must say that you have to get it! It's HG for me

Bobbi Brown limited edition sparkle eye shadows are the cat's meow! With a super smooth base, these are, as all the reviews say, "adult glitter." Small glitter that doesn't fallout everywhere and remarkably shows up. Black Velvet is a lightly black/purple base shadow with purple-rainbow sparkles in it. There's a sister product in the Holiday 2010 collection, named simply Black sparkle, that is much, much darker and more dramatic. While these are more expensive than her regular shadows ($24 vs. regular $20), the limited edition aspect and the sheer fun of these shadows make them worth it, in my opinion! Like all highly glittery shadows, you have to *pat* them on instead of brushing or swiping, otherwise you'll get muddy-darkness instead of true beauty! Enjoy while you can!
