I really really wanted to love this one, and bought after the BB assistant had done my friend's eyemake up with the Galaxy shade of the same product. I wear darker make-up than her so thought I'd experiment with the deeper shades. Went a bit mad and also bought the Starry Purple.

I've tried applying with brush and with fingers and I just can't get the colour on my lids to look anything like what's in the jar. It's really frustrating...I'm applying it to clean lids as she suggested (explaining that it would clump if there were any other products on my lid) but the colour pay off just isn't great.

In the end to get the finish I wanted I ended up using the blue side of the MAC Mineralise eyeshadow in She Who Dares. Worked ok as a base for that I guess....but that's a pretty price eye base!

Won't rebuy in the dark colours but might try in something like the Galaxy or the Goldstone.

Starry Night is VERY sheer. If you are not familiar with the Bobbi Brown Long Wear Cream eyeshadows, please do not buy this expecting it to come out looking on the eye like it does in the jar - it absolutely will not, and if you've somehow built up enough that it does, you're not really using it right ... I mean, you'd pretty much have to use 1/2 the jar to get it to look like that.
This is a sheer silvery-gray navy color, with very fine multi-colored but mainly blue and silver shimmer. I definitely pick up some pink shimmer too. The shimmer particles are tiny, so it doesn't appear like glitter, but it is separate little tiny particles of simmer - not shimmer throughout or a solid metallic effect. Applied lightly, you get virtually none of the base color really showing, but you get this gorgeous wash of perfectly calibrated shimmer. You can apply a bit more and see the base color lightly and sheerly if you want to. Used alone, it doesn't add a lot of color, it mainly adds shimmer. But it's very pretty.
However, my favorite way to wear this is over other eyeshadows (it works over other creams once they are set, or over powder eyeshadow). It brings a very tasteful little bit of sparkle into your look, and can be used to 'cool down' other eyeshadows. For example, today, I am wearing it over a well blended application of Laura Mercier's Cognac - a kinda red-toned rusty brown color, which looks like a satin finish when blended down instead of packed on. Using Starry Night adds the shimmer, and cools the brown, giving it a hint of purpley tones. All I did was very lightly dab Starry Night over the powder eyeshadow, and blended.
You get more blending time with this cream eyeshadow than with a lot of other brands, such as Benefit or Make Up For Ever. However, this does set, and then become pretty budge-and-smudge proof. I have never noticed this creasing, though since I tend to apply very sheerly, I don't know if it's even possible for it to crease when worn that way.
I really enjoy using this. It's not one of those multitasking products that can do everything, but you can use it in different ways, and I'm always happy with the effect it gives!

One of the more "sheer" of the metallic creams, nice over liners, especially blues and violets. I don't use it all over the lid as I find it too dark, and difficult to spread evenly, but *pressed* in a thick line over the top lash line makes my eyes sparkle! I do love it. ;)

Starry Night is a sheer navy sparkle. It's a little darker than the other metallic long wear creams, but it still goes on sheerly. I would only use it as a highlight, but it does have some substance. Nice.
