A few times a week I'll mix Fuller's Earth clay, bentonite clay and green clay together along with Bragg's ACV and Thayer's Rose Witch hazel. I then open 2 capsules of black charcoal and toss it into the mix. Next, I apply it to my face when its dry, avoiding sensitive areas around eyes and mouth leaving it on for between 20-30 minutes Its an intense mask that leaves my face flushed for about 30 minutes afterwards but it leaves skin GLOWING like you just spent the weekend at a spa. It helps control oil and tightens skin. Which is great because I have super oily late 20's skin that is still healing from a 10 year smoking habit. I would recommend it to anyone! I'll never buy another bottled mask again. However, I would go easy on the ACV the first time around especially if you have sensitive skin. After I rinse the mask off I apply an anti-aging mixture of organic rose hip seed oil, carrot seed oil and lemon and orange essential oils. They're really on to something with earth based products. Not only are they cheaper but the process of mixing and applying these products is fun and therapeutic. Mountain rose herbs has a great selection of clays.

This is an amazing stuff. Best for deep cleansing your skin. I mix it with apple cider vinegar to tighten my pores, get rid of blackheads and have a overall fresh and clean skin. I have recently experimented with equal parts of fuller's earth and neem leaves powder mixed with water(i made powder myself, picked leaves from tree, washed them and let them dry in shade and then made powder) this combination dried out my hormonal breakouts very quickly. Now i have put the (dry) mixture in a jar and use it twice a day my old acne scars seem to be fading as well and it has definitely controlled sebum on my face.

I have been reading the posts about this clay mask. I was especially interested in the comments about the carcinogenic nature of the clay. One of the commenters mentioned use on a set. The products used on the face and other uses are not the same grade. The clay sold for cosmetic purposes is another grade. In fact, the FDA has deemed this product safe for the intended cosmetic use. See this quote: "The line of Fullers Earth offered by Mountain Rose Herbs is quarry mined from naturally occurring deposits and is untreated. This product is classified as an approved processing aid and is listed with the FDA as Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS)"

I got this and a green clay for DIY clay masks. I find this one especially has helped my skin remain clear, or if in the midst of a breakout, it helps me clear it fast. I mix this in a ratio of about 2:1 with 50/50 water/Bragg's ACV in a small container with a lid. If I don't use it all in one go, I'll seal it and use the remainder 2-3 days later, wash out the container and start again the next time. After cleansing, I put this on and let it sit until completely dry. When washing off, I pat water on it first, then begin to wash off gently, sometimes using a washcloth to gently exfoliate. My skin will be very very red for about 30-40 minutes afterward. Not a painful or irritated kind of "red", but more of a flush. Something about clay masks in general seem to do this to my skin (bring the blood to the surface, similar to steam or exercise), but when my skin calms down again, my pores look clean, my skin looks fresh and for the next day or so, my oil production is normal, and I don't need to blot so much. I do follow up these masks with moisturizer, and noticed that this mask, in conjunction with my usual routine (glycolic at night, niacinamide in my day cream), that my post acne marks and melasma fade faster than without these masks.

I'm middle aged and still have an oily t-zone!!. I decided to buy multani mitti (indian equivalent of fullers earth) in a bid to control the sebum as well as the fact that its cheap as chips. I have it in the form of lumps of clay. I just take a small piece and put it in a glass dish and add enough rose water to create a thickish paste. I apply all over the face but of course avoid the delicate eye and mouth area. This stuff is brilliant. I am notoriously hard to please so this was a big surprise. It really perks up my complexion as well as removing thr excess sebum. I have a sprinkling of freckles on my nose, upper cheeks and forehead so you can imagine my amazement when I started to see them slowly fading. I have nothing against my freckles but hey, a bonus! Actually, I think its lightened my paleish complexion fullstop.

Great product, low price! I buy the 'Hesh' brand which can be found in most indian groceries or even in the skincare section of some major supermarkets. It's a very efffective face mask. Improves blood circulation and gives your skin a glow. My face also feels really clean and refreshed. I just make mine with water or if I have any at hand, rose water. I don't really mix it with other ingrediants as it does work great on it's own too. The paste will dry according to how thick of a consistancy it is. Thicker it is, the longer it'll take. Once it's dried and you remove it, your face may feel a little 'tight' or uncomfortable. I normally use a toner and a very light moisturiser in areas where it feels dry. Around £1.99 for a pack which I think would make at least 20-30 packs.

Fuller's Earth is sold in my local Indian grocery store as multanni mitti. It is in the skin and haircare aisle. I bought a package a few years ago to use in masks, and so I never used it alone. I bought other ingredients there as well and use equal quantities of orange peel powder, lemon peel powder, brewer's yeast, aspirin that I ground in my dry grinder, multanni mitti, sandalwood powder, neem powder, green tea extract, maka powder (Indian store), tulsi powder (holy basil also at Indian store), amla powder, hyaluranic acid powder from capsules, and stevia powder. I take a tsp of this mixture and add water to make a thin paste and apply it to my face for about 20 minutes every other day. My skin is amazingly soft afterwards and it GLOWS. I'm not saying it's the multanni mitti, but I'm not going to stop using the multanni mitti just because someone would be idiotic enough to breathe it in. By the way, my mixture smells nasty especially when mixed with water, so I am certain I would never want to breathe it in. I apply this mask to my husband's face every weekend, and even he remarked on how smooth and bright his face looks afterwards.

I am a member of I.A.T.S.E., Local 706 (Makeup + Hair Union, West Coast) and I have to tell the previous poster and anyone else who is thinking of using this... Up until 2 years ago, we used to use this as dirt in film/tv/commercials- on sets ("Deadwood" is a prime example), wardrobe and on actors, wet or dry. Our union has deemed this powder as carcinogenic to use (the powder is very fine and is inhaled inadvertently) at ALL. Please reconsider using this product-thanks

I was told about this product by someone who knows a lot about everything! Even so it took me ages to try it as I had never heard of it before. It is now a firm staple in my bathroom. Fullers earth is a natural clay in fine powder form - please google it because its history and uses are very interesting. It has a lot of antibacterial and antifungal properties - I used it for my acne as a topical treatment. This is great as a face mask (just mix a small amount with some water/toner and apply to affected areas) and also applied dry after moisturising to offending spots and it seems to stop them spreading. It is not good to use as a scrub though, I use Baking Soda for this. It is a little drying but compensate by moisturising well. The smell is a little strange, but you get used to it. The price is mega cheap and obtainable from most online health food stores and ebay - I paid £2.50 for 200g. It comes in a plain plastic bag so I decant it in a lovely vintage looking glass jar. UPDATE:With regard to the potential carcinogenic nature of this product (see next post) I do not recommend everyone to try this especially people prone to breathing problems. HOWEVER I do not breathe the dust in and i'm very careful as to where it goes on my face - I will continue to use it. Also I would like to point out that Fullers earth has only been deemed harmful if inhaled and not through contact with skin. There are a few companies who sell fullers earth cream and this is widely available in chemists throughout the UK. If you have any doubt over the powder, use the cream. I'd like to know, if it is that harmful why so many shops are still able to sell it without a warning?
