As a redhead who is starting to gray in the eyebrow area this e/s works great as an eyebrow color, sounds weird but it's true. I use MAC Lingering to lightly outline/define, fill in using this e/s and then use a clear gel to top. Looks great and very natural.

I've just recently been getting into merle norman. My favorite color that i've gotten so far is mist. it's a gorgeous light grey/purple/periwinkle type color. This line shows up great when on. It's buildable, which I like. they tend to fade a couple times thoughout the day, even with primer. Ive used (with this shadow) merle norman automatic shadow base. (hated it. Don't waste your money on this one ladies. worst one ive used), urban decay potion primer (loved this, hated the bottle its in.), mk signiture primer (hated this. Didn't really do much) and mac paint pot primer in painterly (im currently using this and love it) it fades with all primers. The colors go on silky, but I don't know if i'd call them matte. they don't go on well at all with the merle norman automatic shadow base, but go on great with mac paint pot primer and Urban Decay potion primer. so your end results also depends on what primer you use. So ya. LOVE these shadows. And the price isn't bad either!

I picked up 4 of these new e/s over the weekend in the following shades: 'Gardenia', a white that makes for an excellent e/s base; 'Ballerina', a soft, pale pink; 'French Vanilla', a soft golden tan and 'Dove', a medium gray. These shadows are (per the Merle Norman website): "matte pressed powder eyeshadow that provides a suede-soft finish; can be applied as a sheer wash of color, or layered for a more intense look; available in 12 shades". I have seen all 12 colors and all are gorgeous, but if you prefer a more dramatic look to your eyeshadows, these probably wouldn't be a good choice for you (especially since a few of the very light shades go on very sheer-like 'French Vanilla', 'Gardenia' and 'Ballerina'; at least on me they do-probably because I'm pale as a ghost). But they feel silky soft, blend easily and lasting power is pretty good, (but maybe not as good as the Luxiva lasting shadows, which I have become accustomed to for the past 9 years). I would still recommend these shadows if you prefer a hint of color that is soft and sheer. I paid $13.50 a piece for these where I live. FYI: I strongly recommend that you use an eyeshaow base; Merle Norman has an excellent one called 'Automatic Shadow Base'. UPDATE 9/29/08: I ended up returning these shadows; they simply did not show up/last on my lids (even with an e/s base), plus they made my lids red, dry, and itchy. I recently discovered Wei East matte shadows (found on HSN.com) I absolutely love them!
