Loose Powders -Maybelline - Shine Free Oil-Control Loose Powder

Shade: 01 Light
Foundation Shade: NC15

After years, I have finally managed to use up this product! I think this is a pretty average powder. It does work very well for controlling my oil, so I'll give it that. It also is not translucent so you can definitely use it on top of your bronzer or blush if you feel like you were too heavy handed with them.
The only downside is that it does look quite powdery when I apply this onto my skin. Also the packaging is a bit bulky, and the lid comes off very easily. Definitely not a powder for traveling.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Falsies

I was on vacation and in desperate need of mascara. Only 1 shop in town and no acess to reviews, so I just took a chance and grabbed this. Ugh, it's so clumpy. When I got back home I even tried it under mascara primer and it still clumped. It makes my eyelashes look bumpy and spikey, really not a good look. I also felt the color was not a saturated lush black which I would prefer. Can a mascara be dingy? I liked the shape of the brush and that's about it. Oh, I forgot to mention, there is no way to apply another coat. It becomes very dry and set quickly, it's discouraging.

Liquid -Maybelline - FIT Me Foundation (Matte + Poreless)

This is a really lovely foundation.
I was hesitant to try at first as i had never had luck with Maybelline foundations.
This however has really nice coverage (I use a damp beauty blender) that wears evenly and well through the day (survived a busy 35 degree celsius work day today). I pair it with the NYX Shine Killer primer.
It offers medium coverage and is buildable if you need to.
The only flaw is there’s no pump (at least in Australia anyway) but for how cheap this foundation is I can get past that.
I didn’t find that it clung to any dry patches and isn’t broken down easily by facial oils (a quick blot will leave it looking as good as new!)

Mascara -Maybelline - Great Lash Lots of Lashes

foto

This mascara is INCREDIBLE. I remember having used a tube up before and recently opened a new one up that had been sitting unopened for ages. The brush pulls everything single lash up and out, it keeps my lashes curled all day and I don't use a lash curler on them. I was so impressed to come home after a 12 hour day and see that my lashes looked perfect. I don't feel like I have to layer it, it just gives me a nice, separated look that's not too dramatic. I find that I like voluminous lashes but they droop by the end of the day, these mascara doesn't do that, the formula is so light. You can't go wrong for the price either. I hated the original great lash but this one is a gift.

Palettes -Maybelline - The Nudes

I was excited to try this palette. Considering its nude colors selection and the price tag, they were Perfect!
I used this palette for over a year, and during that time I also purchased WnW's Comfort Zone palette.

I thought I was going to love it, but this palette came as far as a 'meh' for me (especially when I compared it with WnW's Comfort Zone which was almost two times cheaper than The Nudes).

The colors were nice, no objection, and the swatches looked ok. However, when I put them on my eyelid, they were not as pigmented as seen on the swatches on my arm. The colors intensity weren't that great and because of that, they didn't last long on my eyelid. There were a few times when I used The Nude since in the morning, and by around noon my colleagues would asked me if I were wearing eye shadows??! Surprised. I looked myself in the mirror and there was literally almost nothing showed on my eyelid!

Some may argue that this is a drugstore brand and expectation should be kept low, or that I need to 'work' with it more if I want it to work.
Well, hey! WnW's Comfort Zone is almost two times cheaper (like I mentioned above) but it works as good as many high-end palettes (UD's NAKED, for sure). So the understanding (and perhaps, acceptance) of drugstore products mean mediocrity is not true here. When I had already tried other cheaper drugstore palette like WnW and found out that it was much better than The Nude.

I still kept The Nude, but to be honest, I never reached for it. I might used for it when I need light makeup...or when I feel like using it....I 'might'.

Pressed Powders -Maybelline - SuperStay Better Skin Skin-Transforming Powder

I really like this powder, which can be used as a light coverage standalone powder foundation, but is sheer enough to also be used as a setting/touch-up powder. Most days I brush this on to set my Revlon Photoready foundation, and it looks so smooth and skinlike, yet holds back shine well. On days I want very light coverage, I will just apply this over my SPF moisturizer ,using the included sponge, and it makes me look more polished. I have the lightest shade "Porcelain 10" and it's a great color match for my pale, neutral skintone. The compact is kind of big and I don't like the rectangular shape, but I like that it comes with a mirror and applicator. It does not break me out, and I am breakout prone. Price is kinda high ($10) for a drugstore powder, but it's good quality, so I'd repurchase!

Crme -Maybelline - Dream Velvet Soft Matte Hydrating Foundation

Deleting my old review and writing up a whole new one because I've had an entirely new experience with this product in the recent months, which has altered my opinion of it.

I like it well enough for very casual outings (grocery-shopping, eating lunch with family, etc) - things that only require a few hours of wear. But this product does tend to get a little bit "textured" for me towards the end of the day so I try not to wear it for all-day events. Everyone's skin is different though - this may perform better for you than it did for me in terms of long wear.

The coverage is medium, and the "soft-matte" written on the packaging is accurate - it's not dewy, but not too matte either. The texture sort of has a gel feeling to it; it's very smooth and blends out decently, and feels quite nice applied on moderately dry skin. After this is where my experience started to change, however. In the last few months my skin has become very severely dry due to my eczema, the harsh Australian winter and other factors, and I found that this foundation feels much more drying on my extremely dry skin now than it did a few months ago when my skin was only moderately dry (i.e. nowadays it feels like the product gradually sucks the moisture out of my skin if I wear it for too long). Despite being labeled as "hydrating" I couldn't feel any of the hydrating properties anymore. I ended up giving this foundation to my mother because I was just too dry to use it anymore, so this product is definitely not for all skin types. I'd say moderately dry skin would still be able to take this foundation just fine; but I'd recommend that people like myself who have extremely dry skin should probably stay away from this and look for a more hydrating alternative.

I think that $23 AUD is a little pricey for this product, but I did manage to snag this when it was 40% off so $13 isn't too bad, especially since my mother will still get a lot of uses out of this (she's worn it once and so far it seems to agree with her skin - her skin is normal type, not too oily or dry). Either way, though, I'm not repurchasing this. I'm sticking with my Too Faced Born This Way foundation and other foundations that are more hydrating.

First off the formula is bad it really should be pulled. I’ve heard many different experiences with this formula l keep hearing about it having a tacky feel or just not drying down cracking settling in to lines . So who wants raisin lips bottom line this lip product is the worst I’ve been hearing lots of people say they are taking this back to the store refund time. Now l must say l’m some one who experiments with making product my self so l just had to try changing the formula to see if l could make it work yes l’m a lip makeup junkie for life. One other thing l really hate is when a company goes all out pushing a product that really isn’t what they claim . Yes l tried everything l could to make this work exfoliating my lips before applying l think l will stick to revamping this enough to maybe get some use out of it . No l do not recommend this lip product.

I have Lover, nice mauve pink( not crazy about this one, a little too purple for me), Loyalist, perfect nude with a hint of pink, Dreamer, my favorite, a pretty nude pale pink, and Pioneer, a red with a hint of brown(this one I promptly gave to my sister, too dark for me). This lasts all day and I do mean all day and then some. It's too hard to get off if you want to change it, and I mean really hard to get off. I didn't think I would ever get Pioneer off but my Garnier WATERPROOF makeup remover took it off. It does dry my lips out a little. I really don't care for the look without adding some gloss over it, I blot it because it does take a long time to dry and stays sticky for longer than I like. The colors are limited but the nudes and pinks are what I prefer and they are all nice. Lover is beautiful on my friends but it is just too much purple for me. It seems to look great on everyone but me. :( The applicator is nice and soft and it has that indentation in it to pick up the product. They have a vanilla scent and sell for around 9.50. I put yes, that I would repurchase because of the staying power even though they do dry my lips out and are horribly hard to remove. I'm not really a fan of mattes and almost always end up using a gloss over it. I would repurchase because I love the color of Dreamer and it does last a long time. I use clear lip liner and they do bleed on me without it, but almost all do on me so that's not something unique to these. I took one lippie off because it stays sticky too long if you don't blot and it did dry my lips out a little plus it's SUPER hard to remove.

PS- Don't glob it on, a thin coat is all it takes and it helps with the sticky drying time.

Concealers -Maybelline - Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles

Overall i really like this concealer. The coverage is good, doesnt really crease (little to none), great staying power and layers on top of liquid foundation really nicely. It also does a great job at brightening up my dark circles, and i really enjoy the tingling cooling sensation when applying it to my under eyes. Only "problem" that i have with it is not with the formula itself, but with the packaging. I would personally prefer a doe foot applicator, but thats mostly just me since i'm an absolute idiot at gauging how much products comes out from the twist and turn sponge tip applicator that this concealer came with.

I used up my tube but I think my shade was too light as it look like I had reverse raccoon eyes. I also had to build up the coverage. The applicator tip was nice but I'm looking for a more opaque product .

I tried this a few years ago and, after using it for a few weeks, had the same reaction as the previous reviewer -- itchy inner corners that would wake me up at night! Recently tried the illuminating one and loved it. However, after using it twice in one week (I don't wear makeup on a daily basis now) got the same itchy reaction. Such a shame as the illuminating version is a perfect quick way to diffuse dark circles. Will continue using my Shape Tape as this is the BEST concealer I have ever found, bar none. It just takes a little more time as you have to be very careful with the amount you apply.

Brows -Maybelline - Brow Tattoo Gel Tint

on 10/16/2017 10:49:00 AM

foto

I used to get my brows tinted professionally but the hassle of going in regularly put me off it. This seemed like a convenient and cheap way to go back to tinting. I bought this when it was half price, so figured I had not much to lose from trying it.

I read some people found the colours too orange. I bought the grey brown to avoid this, and while it was slightly greenish as some people complained of, I didn't find it to be a massive issue. It was a subtle green tinge on me that was only noticeable because I searched for it.

It wasn't terrible - it did tint my brows and lasted for approximately the 3 days it promises. But I just prefer the control and more natural look when I use my Anastasia Beverly Hills pomade, despite the added effort. This would probably suit someone who really can't be bothered doing their eyebrows every morning and who just wants them to appear darker or thicker without having the ombré/light-to-dark effect that makes brows appear more natural.

Another issue I had was with the applicator brush. It lacks precision and the gel goes on as a big clump so it's very easy to accidentally overdraw.

This didn't work for me and I wouldn't repurchase but I can't say it's an absolutely horrible product - it just doesn't give me the look I'm after.

I liked this concealer for under the eyes at first, until about 1-2 months into using it started to make my eyes itch like crazy and then I developed some dermatitis on the inner corners of the tops of my eyelids. I am not sure if it's the formula or the sponge applicator which built up bacteria. A shame! It did blend well, but I did need to apply another concealer on top to blend to my skin tone better.
