Blush -Clinique - Blushing Blush Powder Blush - Smoldering Plum

on 10/21/2017 4:15:00 PM

Georgous colour. Didn't break me out at all whereas a lot of products do. Finely milled.

Staying power was poor on me.

With the clear travel sized packaging, the lettering flaked and the case came apart. I believe they have changed this now though.

Eyeliner -Clinique - Pretty Easy Liquid Eyelining Pen

on 10/21/2017 3:58:00 PM

My new favorite eye liner. This has everything that I want from an eyeliner. Great color pay off, thin pointy brush , waterproof, easy to use, no need to wash brush after every use, stay on your eye lid all day, not expensive also and has a great package. I dont think I will go back to gel eyeliners. So long gel eyeliners. I used YSL's pen eyeliner a couple of years ago but imo Clinique's is better. You dont have to twist the pen in order to get ink and also brush tip is thinner.

Liquid -Clinique - Stay-Matte Oil-Free Makeup

on 10/21/2017 3:57:00 PM

This is the only foundation I use now. I have repurchased several times. I don't like all Clinique foundations. Some of them seem to oxidise on me.

It never breaks me out, when almost everything else does and never irritates my very sensitive skin. I'm naturally very light brown in complexion and it's hard to find foundations that are right and not too orange. The 'neutral' is great for winter for me and 'honey' is great for the rest of the year.

This foundation is a natural, perhaps semi - matte and lasts fairly well.

~ doesn't break me out even if I've fallen asleep in it
~ natural colour selection
~ good for sensitive skin (I get red, raised skin from lots of products and find this totally innocuous)
~ buildable
~ lasts quite well. Might reapply once in the evening bearing in mind I use this watered down.
~ some oil control
~ not drying
~ shape of packaging means it fits in a small hand bag
~ one tube lasts me ages and ages.

~ might not be matte enough for 'matte purists'
~ Is too heavy looking for my prefernace without being mixed with moisturiser though for me this means it lasts several months. Also my skin is more normal - oily than truly oily and is very clear these days (here's to finding appropriate products and getting out of my teens!)
~can make blocked pores on nose (which occur after I have tried inappropriate skincare / make up products, this not being one of them) stand out more.
~pricey ish but is on the lower side of cost of premium make up and for the quality, for something that doesn't break me out and something that lasts so long it is worth every penny.
~packaging isn't super luxe, especially for the price, though I quite like the simplicity of it.

Mascara -Clinique - High Impact Mascara

on 10/21/2017 2:08:00 PM

This is quite an average mascara considering the price, it makes my eyelashes look nice and long but it's quite clumpy and tends to flake. My biggest issue with it though is how much it seems to have irritated my eyes, they've been constantly watery since I started using this mascara and if I get any of it in my eyes it causes intense burning. I'm not sure how many others have experienced this but I personally won't be buying it again.

Cleansers -Clinique - Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm

Meh. I said I wouldn't buy this again, but I'm not sure yet. I got a little one from Ulta a few weeks ago and have used it maybe half a dozen times and I just don't love it. It's not terrible, but I'm going to have to use it with other products to see if I like it more. I bought this partially because of the hype and good reviews, and partially because I wanted an all-purpose makeup remover.

The consistency doesn't bother me because I've used coconut oil to remove my makeup pretty often in the past, but if you don't like oils because of how they feel, maybe skip trying this.

What I do like is how well it removes most of my makeup. It actually does pretty well with my face makeup, eye shadow, and eyebrows. Anything that's left over (if anything is left over) is easily removed with micellar water, toner, or cleanser. Which I use depends mostly on how tired I am when I'm taking off my makeup, but I usually use this, then micellar water or cleanser, then toner. If I just had on BB cream and mascara, I might just use this and then toner.

But mascara and eyeliner? Ugh. It does work, kind of, but it takes forever, irritates my eyes really bad (some of that is from the product, some is the way it breaks down my mascara, which I'm getting to), and my mascara comes off in this sharp grainy bits which then scratches a bit all over my eye area. It also doesn't seem to get all of my mascara and the liner on my upper lash line off, so I end up having to use some of my Neutrogena eye makeup remover to get the rest off. I've tried this with two or three mascaras so far, and two liners. Maybe it's just the products I'm using. If I use something else and the results change, I'll come back and edit this review.

I do like that it doesn't seem to dry out my skin or leave it feeling greasy after I wash it off. That's nice. But I feel like for how little product you get, and how much it takes to get your makeup off, it isn't really worth the price. It would be, possibly, if it did a better job with my eye makeup. There's just not enough product (in the full sized or mini jar) for the price and inefficiency for me to justify switching to this.

Blush -Clinique - Cheek Pop in Pink Pop

on 10/20/2017 4:01:00 PM

This has become my go-to blush, have bought it twice now. It's the perfect pink blush that makes you look youthful and glowy. No brown or orange tones, which I hate in a blush. It's also got the perfect balance of pigment and sheen. So many blushes these days have too much frost and not enough pigment so when you try to build them your face just gets too shiny, with very little color. This is just right!

Liquid -Clinique - Superbalanced Foundation

I don't mind this foundation. I am 22 and have combination skin which is on the dryer side in certain areas. I am prone to occasional breakouts. First off I found that this foundation alone didn't do it for me. I found it accentuated the dry areas on my face, so I started mixing it with my moisture surge face cream and haven't had any issues since, I think I may try a different product after this one because If I'm spending $40 I don't want to have to fix it myself. The only thing for me is that it does go on a bit cakey which for me isn't a huge issue but if you're not looking for something a bit heavier I would find a different product to try.

Masks -Clinique - City Block Charcoal Mask And Scrub

on 10/19/2017 5:29:00 PM

According to Clinique website 'Natural bamboo charcoal and kaolin clay help remove pollution and impurities, while natural silica beads gently refine texture.'
There is nothing gentle about this thing. It's too harsh even for my hands, let alone the face. On the bright side, it leaves skin very smooth and extremely clean.
Not for sensitive skins, but awesome for those who like highly abrasive products.

Eye Shadow -Clinique - All About Shadow Quad - Pink Chocolate

on 10/19/2017 4:32:00 PM

I am a makeup fanatic and have so many eye shadows that I could make over a good chunk of NY State and still have some leftover. Saying that, I am a new convert to Clinique eye shadows. I have been wearing Clinique products since the early 70s when I used to steal my mother's makeup but somewhere along the way I "outgrew" the product line. I love their lip liners and would buy a lipstick here and there, but that was about it, until last year when a friend of mine lost a bunch of weight and wanted to get back to wearing makeup. Since she has sensitive eyes, and Clinique was one of the few brands that she could wear, I stopped into The Cosmetics Company Store (which is apparently owned by Estee Lauder as it only sells Lauder owned brands) and bought her some Clinique 8 pans as a gift. I wound up buying a Quad in Safari Green for myself and was hooked! Great colors, easy to blend, and in a small pack-able case. So now I am exploring other colors and recently bought the Quad in Pink Chocolate. Love, love, love!

My skin is a little lighter than NW20 (maybe NW18 if it existed). I have a lot of color in my skin - cool-ish pinky/peach. Brown "nude" shadows never look right on me - certainly never "natural". When I want a natural makeup look, I have to go to the cool end of things and until fairly recently, "natural" cool colors weren't that easy to find.

I was excited to try out this Pink Chocolate Quad and it met my expectations. The colors looked natural on me yet also made my grey/green eyes pop. You notice my eye color instead of the eye shadow. The shadows have a bit of sheen to them (they are not matte) and are very soft-looking. I use UD Primer Potion in Sin with a very thin film of Silk Naturals Stick 'Em over that (makes shadows glide on easier) and then apply the shadows over that. The shadow lasts all day and well into the night and with little to no creasing (but I don't have oily eyelids either). This Quad is perfect if you need to look natural but polished by day (such as in a conservative office setting), or want to look nice on weekends without being too "done". If you have darker skin, try this out before buying as it will be a totally different look for you; ditto if you have very warm toned skin - it might look more dramatic than neutral (or be unflattering in general).

Clinique isn't a "sexy" brand or a trendy brand for that matter. They make nice "everyday" makeup that is a step above drug store yet isn't as expensive as most other dept store brands. Nobody is going to get on Youtube and hawk the hell out of it, yet Clinique is still around after almost 50 years when so many other iconic brands have almost disappeared or folded altogether. That tells you something...

Moisturizers -Clinique - Dramatically Different Moisturizing "Cream"

on 10/18/2017 4:24:00 PM

I want to like this but I just can’t. It feels very rich and nice when I first apply it but as I rub it in it pills up. It doesn’t absorb and sits like a greasy film on top of my skin that I then have to remove. Yuck.

Cleansers -Clinique - Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm

I'm a difficult person to wow, but this stuff is truly amazing! It's actually the first ever thing that YouTube made me buy.
Recently I've watched Desi Perkins video where she was removing a very heavy black eye makeup using this balm. Definitely, the video wasn't showing everything from beginning till the end without cuts, but it made me wonder if this thing will be able to remove my mascara and eyeliner without leaving the traces of makeup. I went to Ulta and bought a travel size (6.50$ with taxes 0.5oz / 15ml).
OMG this stuff is HG! All my life I struggled with raccoon eyes in the mornings. Not fully raccoon, but some traces were always left, no matter how many products I've used to remove my eye makeup. My lashes were falling out from rubbing, but my makeup was staying on....
This balm:
- it removes my mascara and eyeliner trace free in 30 seconds;
- I don't need to rub it strong into my eyes, very gentle circular motion work perfectly;
- it doesn't leave a residue;
- doesn't dry out my skin;
- I don't need to use any other product to fully remove my makeup. I still go with my regular face wash all over the face afterward, and I use Clinique balm on my eyes only, since my face makeup is minimal.
- my eyes are very sensitive and I can use.

This stuff is amazing! try it you won't regret!
If you're planning to use it on your eyes only travel size is should be enough for 6 months before it will expire.

Cleansers -Clinique - Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm

This thing is pricey if you see it just from the price point, BUT with the amount of product that you get and a little bit goes such a long way to clean stubborn yet wonderful makeup. No matter how many layers of products that I have on, cleaning it with this balm is such a joy. Usually I will be just putting 5 dots on my face and massage the balm thoroughly even to my eyes. Wipe it off with some tissue and as final check, I take a cotton pad and soak it in Bioderma Micellar Water. Then I wash my face, and voilaaaaa.... fresh face, ready for bed. Such an amazing product! I will definitely repurchase!
