Cleansers -CLINIQUE -Take the Day Off Micellar Cleansing Towelettes

I like these more than I expected. They don’t completely remove mascara but I use them before washing my face and that combination is the best I’ve tried so far for mascara removal. I haven’t used them without washing my face yet and my face feels a little greasy after using a wipe before washing. If they really removed the mascara like the woman at the store told me they would I would give them 5 stars instead of 4.

Mascara -CLINIQUE -High Impact Mascara

foto

This mascara does nothing for my lashes. No curl, no length- I can’t believe it’s called “high impact”. So not worth the price- good thing I didn’t buy it with my own money (it was a gift).
Maybelline Lash Sensational still remains my HG.

Sunscreen -CLINIQUE -Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen Fluid for Face

I've finished 2 bottles of this, both purchased within the last year. I thought this product worked pretty well and it applied nicely. I have golden olive skin (NC30) and almost always have a problem with white cast from mineral sunscreens. This one did lighten my skin tone a bit, but it didn't leave an obvious cast, and it was easy to blend in. I was able to wear it without foundation over it, and my face still looked natural.

The two-star rating is for its pore-clogging effects. Although I didn't experience any inflammatory acne breakouts, I did end every day with clogged-up pores on my nose. That is a deal-breaker for me. I know that this product was the culprit because I've since replaced it with another product (from Josie Maran) that yielded different results.

Another downside is that this product leaves my skin very shiny. That would not be a deal-breaker, but it does require me to use powder and to check and retouch throughout the day, more so than I normally would.

I won't repurchase.

Eyeliner -CLINIQUE -Pretty Easy Liquid Eyelining Pen

I love this liquid eyeliner pen so much!! It's definitely worth the money and I repurchased it already more then just ones!
The tip of the pen is so thin and then it goes a little bit bigger, which is great because this is how you can take control over creating a liner or a winged eyeliner. The tip itself is very flexible and because of the liquid ink the bristle stick together.

Make sure that you are always putting the lid on once you're done with it to avoid having a dried out pen.

Toners -CLINIQUE -Clarifying Lotion #2

Really bad, was completely filled with alcohol. I only had the trial size, but it lasted me for a few months, maybe 3-4. At first it was good for my sweaty skin in the summer, but as summer passed, it started to completely dry out my skin. I liked the fact that I could unscrew the lid and just pop it onto a cotton pad. But essentially it is just overpriced alcohol. Will NOT buy.

Lipstick -CLINIQUE -Dramatically Different Lipstick Shaping Lip Colour

I have been looking around and trying new lipstick formulations. I'm looking for lightweight coverage with moisture and long wear. A leftover stain would be a plus. So I have tried many new lipsticks in my search including this formulation and I love it. It is definitely lightweight and colors are beautiful. If you had Clinique favorites before they have probably been reformulated to this. The lipstick has a moisturizing core which enables the lipstick to go on smoothly but with a satin lightweight coverage. No liner necessary. I get several hours from this lipstick before needing to reapply while drinking water through a straw. It does transfer some but not as bad as some other lipsticks like Hourglass or Bobbi Brown classic. And compared to other brands the price is a deal at $19.

Blush -CLINIQUE -chubby stick in Roly Poly Posy

on 9/20/2018 3:48:00 PM

I just got this in a Clinique gift with purchase event. I'd previously enjoyed the Chubby Stick blush in Amp'd Up Apple, which I reviewed, and LOVE!

This is awful! It's everything that Stila's convertible cream blushes taught me to hate in cream blushes.

It goes on far too bright and hot pink in stubborn pink blotches that refuse to blend out till my Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation is nearly rubbed off, and that is saying something.

Amp'd up Apple didn't do that to me. It glided on, smooth and pretty, blended out perfectly with ease, and lasted all day. It is what cream blush should be and when I run out of it, I will surely buy another.

This one on the other hand hit the trash bin this morning. Like the Stila convertible blushes, it is just too much trouble to make it work, and NO I most certainly won't buy another in this shade.

Blush -CLINIQUE -Chubby Stick Moisturizing Cheek Colour Balm in Amp'd Up Apple

I hate cream blushes, but NOT THIS ONE! This is one I will repurchase after I run out of this shade. I got it on a gift with purchase a few months ago.

It's a neutral shade, soft enough that it doesn't look crazy on my very pale skin, and it never seems to need much rubbing to blend it out nicely to a neutral flush of my cheeks but better so to speak. It lasts all day on me, doesn't irritate my allergic sensitive skin, nor does it cause breakouts.

Unlike the Stila product. I got a palette of 5 of Stila cream blushes and they are awful. I ended up tossing them, and what a waste of money. They went on too bright, didn't blend out till they rubbed off the foundation underneath and considering I use Estee L DW most days, that IS an accomplishment of the worst kind.

However I just got Roly Poly Posy which is a bright pink shade from Clinique in the latest GWP and I would say avoid that one. It doesn't blend, it grabs, and I'm back to rubbing off my foundation again.

So bottom line--this shade, Amp'd Up Apple is AMAZING! I love love love it. But don't just think that all the Clinique Chubby stick blushes are the same quality as this.

Eyeliner -CLINIQUE -Pretty Easy Liquid Eyelining Pen

A few years ago, my mom passed this off to me. It ended up replacing my old favorite eyeliner (and gel liner) and I've bought it twice since. I know some people have said it bleeds and smudge but I've never had that experience. It goes on easily, opaque, and sharp and comes off gently with a wipe.

My only complaint is that if you're not careful putting the cap on, the tip can get frayed over time. Usually I'm nearly out of product by the time this happens anyways, though.

Treatments (Face) -CLINIQUE -Smart Custom repair serum

on 9/20/2018 7:21:00 AM

First of all, I must say that Clinique products rarely cause my skin to breakout.  The Clinique Smart Custom-Repair Serum did cause a few breakouts but that was at the beginning of using it, after a few weeks this did stop.  This does have some ingredients that can cause acne and breakouts so I assume that is why.  The other disappointment is that after a few months of use I didn't really notice any visible difference.  I have had much, much better luck with the Clinique Smart Treatment Oil.  And the third thing I wasn't excited about was the inclusion of grapefruit peel oil for fragrance.  The grapefruit peel oil was higher up on the ingredient list than i would have liked.  In my opinion, the Clinique Smart Custom Repair Serum is better for people who don't have any specific aging problems they want to address but those just looking for a product that has a decent overall formula but not looking to treat fine lines, hyperpigmentation, sagging skin, etc.  I found that this did contain beneficial ingredients but not ingredients that can really focus on one skincare issue.   If you have normal to dry skin I do recommend the Clinique Smart Treatment Oil- this product's results were noticeable in the first week of use. Foundations -CLINIQUE -CliniqueFIT Workout Makeup

on 9/20/2018 6:40:00 AM

I remember when Clinique released all of their CliniqueFIT products, and I remember briefly scanning many of their ingredients list and not being super impressed. Recently I was at the Cosmetics Company Store and I saw a few of the CliniqueFIT products for decent prices so I picked up their CliniqueFIT Workout Makeup SPF 40 to give it a try. Actually, I really liked how this "foundation" looked aesthetically. This applies easily with a damp beauty blender since it is basically a very liquid formula. This sets reasonably quickly to a very matte finish. I thought this help up okay through heat and humidity as well as a good workout. This didn't settle into fine lines much either. What I didn't like about this is that denatured alcohol (the bad, drying kind) is way up there in the ingredients list. I also feel like my skin didn't like other factors about this because I ended up with a couple breakouts that I attribute to the CliniqueFIT Workout Makeup. Really wish they could have make this either without or using much, much less denatured alcohol. My video review can be seen here:

Moisturizers -CLINIQUE -Moisture Surge Hydrating Supercharged Concentrate

on 9/20/2018 12:30:00 AM

foto

This is was my first experience with a gel moisturizer, which at the time I thought was decent if unremarkable. Having since tried 3 other gel moisturizers I realize this one succeeds where others fail. This is a great summer moisturizer for combo-oily skin in that it is light, sinks in fast, and doesn't leave skin looking shiny like most gels do. It plays very well with all my serums and treatments, no pilling or streaking. It is NOT a heavy moisturizer and will not be enough for dry or thirsty skin (though it might be a good hydrating pre-moisturizer serum for those folks). In that sense the name is misleading, so I understand some of the negative reviews from folks who didn't get what they wanted. I would not have purchased it if the sales assistant hadn't told me it was the one to pick for lightweight oily skin hydration. She was right!

Cleansers -CLINIQUE -Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm

foto

This product took a long time for me to buy because:
1. it's expensive ($39 CAD)
2. I have more than enough makeup cleansers.

However, I am done rubbing my makeup off with cotton pad, it's never as precise as my milk/cleansers that I can get into my lashes with, and I prefer makeup removal done in one fell swoop. That doesn't necessarily mean one product, but it means that when I leave my sink, I started with a full face and left with a bare one. My lashes are naturally light and it's really easy to tell when my makeup remover hasn't done its job, and for me, thorough eye makeup removal is so important.

I can confirm that this product alone gets all of my makeup off, and my skin doesn't feel greasy or "undone" afterwards. Personally, I warm it up in my fingers, and gently rub my lashes, my brows, and my cheeks, and wash off with another cleanser afterwards. It gets the black mascara off my light lashes, no problem, and I like that it doesn't irritate my eyes, I can still open them to see how the removal process is going. I typically need 1/2 a tablespoon of product it seems (sounds weird, not sure else what to compare it to, LOL) for my entire face if I've worn full makeup that day.

If you have difficulty removing makeup, wear a lot of makeup, or are lazy with the removal process altogether, I would definitely recommend this product. The price tag can be a shock but for the ease of use, it's completely worth it. Just simply grab a little bit, massage your lashes and face, and your makeup is done for. And I'm sure this jar will last me the better part of a year at this rate.

Mascara -CLINIQUE -Lash Power Mascara

on 9/17/2018 9:23:00 AM

foto

It's the only mascara that I can tolerate these days. It doesn't add any extra volume but it applies well and looks very neat, almost natural. One thing that a love about it is that it just stays put in any weather. No flaking, no smudging and I can trust it to be almost perfect by the end of a hard working day. I wear contacts and my eyes can be sensitive and this product gives me no irritation. I had some irritation problems with similar mascara that can be taken off with water from MAC.
One tip: when you take the mascara off with warm water do not rub the lashes on your under-eye area - it might cause milia to appear. Gently hold/tap your lashes between your wet fingers and when you feel it's ready to come off gently slide the product off without touching any skin.
