I ordered the custom blended lipstick from Three Custom Color Specialists not for me but for my mother that was based on a discontinued lipstick shade called Bronze Lights by the sadly now defunct brand called Fashion Fair Cosmetics. I sent to that company the actual tube of the Fashion Fair Bronze Lights lipstick that my mother had that still contained the very last remnants of lipstick inside of it. It was very pricey indeed plus I had to get the order shipped internationally as well but I guess it is good that you get two lipsticks at the same time instead of one since Three Custom Color Specialists won't let you order just one lipstick at a time anyway. It took four weeks from the time I paid for the custom blended lipstick online to the time my mother received it. My mother liked it and she said it looked very close to the original Fashion Fair Bronze Lights lipstick on her and it did look very much like the same lipstick shade in the tube from Three Custom Color Specialists anyway. She also said that it felt fine on her lips so it wasn't too greasy or slippery. So at least my mother seems reasonably happy with her lipsticks from Three Custom Color Specialists so that's good at least. I did tell her to be careful when she swivels up the tube of lipstick to apply to her lips because based on some of the other reviews on here the way that the company places their lipsticks in the tubes is a bit weird and people think that tube is broken or unreliable. After I emailed Three Custom Color Specialists after my mother received her order they did email me back to say that they will add the Fashion Fair Bronze Lights lipstick shade to their lip color database soon and that will be very good so that it'll be easier for my mother to order the lipsticks when she's ready and for other customers because that particular lipstick shade was very popular with Fashion Fair Cosmetics' customers in the past.

Custom Blended Lipstick

I reached out to 3 custom with a strange request: black lip stain (like a benetint sort of product). They offer a lip-and-cheek stain in several ready-to-wear colors, but custom colors are not advertised on their website. Still, when I e-mailed them they told me they could do it for their regular fee. Their lip stains work like any other: translucent washes of color that stain the lips. But they come in a solid balmy form instead of a watery form like Benetint. My custom black lip stain arrived in lipstick tubes, and applied like a sheer glossy black lipstick. When blotted down, it becomes a nice matte translucent wash of color that wears fairly well and doesn't settle into the lines of my lips. The staining power isn't as strong as a good-quality liquid lip stain, but it looks and wears better than any black stain I've tried to create by blotting down an ordinary black lipstick. More or less, it looks like Urban Decay Oil Slick but without all the shine. For such an odd request, they didn't do a bad job.

I've turned to 3CC to make me new shades and to duplicate old ones. I've had much better luck with the new shades. Duplicating lipsticks and foundations have resulted in products that were close but not exact matches. So in other words, "off". And in each case, I've been very VERY specific about my orders, explicitly stating that my skin has warm undertones, etc. I've even re--sent a lipgloss for a re-do, but the second time was no better than the initial order. So if you use their services, hold your breath until you get the product. It is very hit-or-miss.
