Mascara -Revlon -Ultimate All-In-One Mascara

on 4/23/2018 3:16:00 PM

By far the worst mascara I’ve tried. I threw it away after one use. For starters, the brush is incredibly small. There is no way to get all your lashes in one swipe, so you need multiple swipes and naturally some areas get more mascara than others when you do that, creating major clumping. Secondly, the bristles are spaced far from each other which means even if the wand was longer, you’re still going to get spider eyes. Thirdly, this mascara will not hold a curl whatsoever due to how thick and clumpy it is. I ended up using my nails to scrape off the excess so I didn’t look worse for wear at work. Overall, there is nothing redeeming about this mascara.

Lips -Revlon -Revlon Kiss Plumping Lip Creme

The plumping claim pulled me in (even though I should know better). While these don't plump any more than your average gloss or liquid lip, I was pleasantly surprised. I picked up Barely Blush (MLBB) & Almond Suede (a brownish pink).
The color is opaque, but with a high shine. They're very glossy, but not at all sticky or heavy.
It has a lot of slip, almost too much (more working with a liquid than a creme), and application can get messy. The slanted plastic applicator isn't useful at all, the tip of the finger works better at evening it out.
There is a slight cooling sensation upon application, but any plumping effect really comes from the glossiness of the product, IMO. These remind me a bit of NYX Butter glosses, only more slick. These feel like they might have moisturizing effect.

There is not much lasting power though; with all that slip, it kind of slips right off. That doesn't bother me too much as I'm a frequent applier of any lip product I happen to be wearing.

Foundations -Revlon -Colorstay 2-in-1 Compact Makeup & Concealer

I have had a lot of issues finding my "perfect" foundation since going through menopause. I honestly can't even count how many products I've tried. I used to have oily to combo skin and used the Colorstay for that skin type for years and loved it. It just no longer works for me and I didn't like the normal to dry version. So fast forward to having tried a ton of products, except this, and then my kid comes home from college and said "Mom, try this". I did and now am thankful. Lol. We have the same skin tone and color. She had gotten this in Ivory and I tried it and loved it! It's not heavy but covers the redness that has developed with menopause and the concealer is excellent. I love that it's buildable and doesn't settle into fine lines. I'm not sure about how long it lasts but it did pass the "nap test" as I fell asleep wearing it and it still looked good when I woke up. I've also been using Revlon bb cream and this works really well with it

Foundations -Revlon -Colorstay Makeup Normal/Dry Skin SPF 20

This worked on me when I was closer to normal/oily but since becoming a dry to very dry skin type, I just can't use it anymore.

- doesn't need to be set, dries to a powder finish
- awesome shade range for light/medium skin tones. I'm a light olive and 150 buff is a perfect match in winter.
- very reasonably priced
- simple pump packaging
- good coverage (medium-full) if that's what you're looking for

- too drying for dry skin
- looked flaky and emphasized dryness and texture
- felt uncomfortable and "tight" to wear because it was so dry
- after a while (~5 months), it seemed to dry up in the bottle and tiny clumps would be pumped out along with the foundation

Bottom line: if you have normal/combo skin this might work for you, but stay far, far away if you have a dry skin type prone to flaking or dry patches.

Liquid -Revlon -Colorstay 24hrs Makeup SPF 15 Combination/Oily Skin (US pump bottle)

I had problems with oily skin and I didn't know what to do anymore to keep my foundation in place, then I found this. It has great coverage and makes skin look less oily. Even if my face gets a bit shiny after some hours, the foundation still stays on my face. If you apply some translucent powder it will take the shine away and it will look just fine. Definitely a good quality product!
